The Fairmont Washington is only available for 2 of 5 needed nights for an upcoming trip. I have plat status but would prefer to have all nights organized before going. It also seems that if additional nights do become available, that the rate might be double that of the 2 first nights (wkdays more than wknd). Suggestions for a nearby hotel would be appreciated.

Thanks

Also a Westin right across the road.
Within 5 minute walking distance, there is Embassy Suite, Marriott, a Kimpton, and a Renaissance. Plus a whole bunch more.

Sounds like I have a lot of choices... thanks also to Often1. Now to do some searching for a decent rate.

Are the unavailable nights blacked out/limited access? Did you call the platinum line to see if you can do the guaranteed room access?

I've just called again. Yes, apparently I will be able to get a room and another guest who is staying there will be "walked" to another hotel.

Well, it looks as if I'll have to stay at the Washington Fairmont another time. Currently, only gold rooms are available for all the dates needed and are beyond the budget for this trip. We're tentatively booked at a Starwood property.

It's funny how things work out. Our flight from DCA was cancelled due to weather and we ended up spending one night at the Washington Fairmont. Although it doesn't share the architectural "wowness" of the older Fairmonts, it is quite a nice property. There is a good sized atrium area with comfortable seating which I would have loved to use as a reading area, but didn't have the time. In addition there is an outdoor courtyard, in the centre of the property, with seating areas, plants and flowers. I believe this area is used for weddings.

Using my certs, we upgraded to a one bedroom suite, which was quite spacious. The adjoining room had a pullout couch, a small table for four and a second television. The Staff, as has been my experience at other Fairmonts, were welcoming and helpful.
