Amtrak Guest Rewards - Any recent experiences/recommendations on Silver Service ?

Taking the Silver Star down to Florida and the Silver Meteor back - have a bedroom both ways. Looking for any feedback or advice. Any meal suggestions ? Do people hang out in the cafe and socialize ? Thanks for any info !

I've never really hung out in the cafe car, since the windows are actually bigger in the sleepers. My guess is that more coach pax hang out in the cafe car than sleeper pax; not to say that there is anything wrong with your hanging out there.

The bottom row windows in a Viewliner are the same size as the windows in the Amfleet II cars. The top Viewliner windows are indeed smaller and identical to Amfleet I windows.

I can say that when I took the Silver Star last year from Washington to Cary, NC and the Crescent this year from Baltimore to New Orleans there were always people hanging out in the cafe car. However, it's not early as much as there are on the west coast trains, most people seem to be there to eat and play a game with their companions.
