Last time, I heard is that AI was trying to finalize a deal with Air Canada for the lease of its 5 77L. They have been trying to lease these ac for the past couple years. Any updates on this?
And are there any other interested airlines like Delta, Emirates. Etihad...etc.?

The deal fell through, reportedly because neither carrier wanted to pay for the reconfiguration and AC didn't want the aircraft if it wasn't reconfigured.

That figures to be an issue since its being leased and only 5 aircraft.
With the 787 coming online, these 77L would be under-utilized.
Have AI tried to sell these aircraft?

AI is trying to get rid of the 77Ls any way they can - their CASM are poor compared to the 77Ws and 787s.
Nobody really wants them for the same reasons, neither for lease nor for sale. AC was an opportunity, but it didn't work out unfortunately.

What would a refit cost - couple of million?

I thought that Delta at one time was interested in these ac since they also fly them. But with their 747 reconfiguration and the volatile conditions in the industry, they have become very conservative in growing the long haul fleet.
These 77L would work lovely across the Pacific if Delta opened Melbourne and Auckland.
Have any other airlines shown interest?

United uses them (CO was/is using them big-time), might have been/could be interested, but probably has enough for now - as well as moving some traffic to 787s soon...

My understanding is that it could be significantly more (into the tens of millions) depending on how much reconfiguration needs to be done for the aircraft to match AC's fleet.

Not really. If the price is right, AI won't have trouble finding someone to lease to. The problem is that the "right price" is probably too low for AI...

How is the utilization of the 77L by AI? Like hours per day.
What routes are they being flown?
With the 787 arrivals, what is the likely scenario with these birds?
I hope that they dont park them......
