I currently need 880 SCs to reach WP and Qantas have been kind enough to offer me double SCs prior to 30 June.

I will be booking PE from LHR to SYD return (480 SCs) so I have another 400 to make up. I have sufficient FF Points to take some business class trips (if need be) to make up some of the difference.

Does anyone have any suggestions on the easiest way to make up 200 normal SCs on a domestic mileage run? I have a free QF flight (courtesy of them grounding the fleet last year) but I'm not sure if that gives me SCs.

Thanks!

Shonky

Have a look on AFF ... especially this thread:

If you have FF points to use, then maybe an "Any Seat" reward will help, as these use less cash normally and you still get status credits awarded.

You don't say when you plan to do this. I looked at SYD-CNS July7/8 and it is 72.000 points and A$113. This will get you 160 points return for business. Not quite the 200 you need.

On clicking the link I get a 'file not found error'

A search also brings up some interesting threads here on FT.

Some suggestions are JQ runs, using LA ex AKL in J or JASA awards domestically.

A good status point yield as an any seat award is TSV/BNE/DRW return.

From memory J was 48K points and about $250 cash. Can be done in one day.

Pulls in 280 status points, so you'd get 560!.

I did this run last year, its known many J seats can be empty on this run, in my case, had spare seat next to me all the way.

BNE/DRW JASA return pulls in 160 for you 320 status points.

AKL-MEL-BNE-TSV in Business = Nets 200SCs; and can be had for ~200NZD + 36000 points.

Alternatively;
You could opt for the CBR-SYD-HBA run in Business at 16000points + ~120AUD; which bags you 100SC, so a return trip = 200SC for 32000points + 240AUD

Hi Shonky. I would book the PE return to LHR on two diffferent flight numbers eg. QF5, QF9 as that will give you an extra 80 SC's from that trip

Although as the OP wants to utilise their double status credits offer they will have to book flights with QF flight numbers. So JQ and LA flights would not give them double SCs. The LA flight does have a QF codeshare but not at a good price. But certainly a domestic JASA is probably the best option.
