Southwest Rapid Rewards - WN has sent me a third (maybe fourth, I lost track) CP card

Every few months I get another CP card in a super-fancy mailer. Got another today. Third or fourth by now. Very strange.

Weird verbiage, too:

"The CP member and designated Companion must check in together and present the CP card."

How exactly are we supposed to check in together with different PNRs?

Also specifically says you can visit southwest.com or call 800-435-9792 and change your Companion. In the past, it has always said changes must be submitted in writing, though of course they'd often do it on the phone.

The verbage to check in together means if you have to be helped by an agent or skycap during the checkin process they may ask to see the card.

I was asked about 8 times in the last 500 flights. Those were all rare occasions when we had to check in bags with a WN employee or had irregular ops and had to talk to an agent.

Same experience for me as well. I've received 3-4 new CP mailers with cards each year for the last two years. This was after receiving the initial mailer/card when I renewed my CP. Same experience for A List/A+ mailers/cards too. I've now got plenty of extras in case one goes missing!
