Aegean Airlines Miles&Bonus - Requalification for Status Matches on A3?

I've been wondering whether A3 has any policy about renewal/requalification for *Silver/Blue and *Gold elite levels for those who have received status matches from A3. It seems that many refuges from BMI have benefitted from this privilege, but it wouldn't make sense for A3 to offer them effectively *Gold for life providing that the account is kept active. This would only require crediting one flight to A3 every one or two years, compared to, for example, earning lifetime *Gold via million miler status on other *A carriers.

For those who have received status matches, did A3 address this issue at all?

IMO, giving status for a year or so and then asking the person to qualify by the standard 4,000/16,000 criterion with 1,000 free introductory miles would seem fair.

Well I've earned M&B G the "hard way" :D , so I can't really say, but...

I don't think they made some special arrangements for matched cards. Simply because they are not the mature sophisticated program and honestly, we really don't know what the requalifications are for earned status anyway.

Other europeean programs that comps usually give you the same status period and the same requalifications as for an earned status. Usually no challenge, or only a challenge to fly one segment before getting the comped card.

The most unfavourable match I've heard of was AB matching MA, after MA going bust. They gave only 4 months of validity on matched cards. But I guess this was a special case. (especially since MA in their turn had matched pretty much everything for years)

I'd be surprised if A3 did anything else than just add X thousands of tier miles to matched accounts, and let the existing set of rules determine status.

That's just what they've done - added 19k tier miles to existing accounts. I too doubt they'll treat things any differently. As discussed elsewhere on this forum we can but hope that they've got the financials all worked out as far as longevity of *G goes - hopefully with folks crediting flights to them for the perks that (we think) cost them then it should all work out...

After I was matched to *G I asked A3 exactly what was needed to requalify as GOLD.

Here is the reply:

In reply to your request we would like to inform you that you will have the Gold status as long as you have active your Miles&bonus card. What you have to do is to mileage at least 1 trip within 3 years to keep your status.

Very simple!

....but that ain't gonna last long if everyone starts exploiting the system by using A3 for their *G benefits while crediting those flights elsewhere.
It is a 2-way street, A3 are happy to offer the easy status based on the idea that the members are willing to credit their flights to A3 (particularily if they intend utilizing the *G benefits on those flights).

I fear there are those who would make foie gras of the golden goose
