Amtrak Guest Rewards - It's nice when a conductor makes you feel extra welcome

I rode the 11:50 PM Empire Service from New York Penn to Albany last Saturday night. After a long day of carousing around New York City and having a few quick ones I was zonked. The conductor upon boarding welcomed us all, quickly took our tickets (within a minute of sitting down) and told everyone "Go to sleep, I'll wake you when we get to Albany". She then shut the lights off. Two hours later, I feel a tap on my shoulder just as we pull into ALB. Made an unpleasant "red-eye" much nicer. ^

Good thing you didn't have to listen to a cell-phone yakker the whole way!

In this case, the conductor probably has to make sure you wake up in Albany, no?

Someone, after all, must be on the hook if a pax gets stuck overnight in the train. :)

True, but they could have instead yelled loudly into the P.A. "THIS IS ALBANY! LAST STOP! EVERYONE OFF!"
