GLBT Travelers - Heads up for people going Decadence

I just made my reservations last night for Southern Decadence. Heads up-if you are thinking of going, I would book a room now (and just rebook later if something cheaper comes up or cancel if you don't go).

Something else must be going on around then because a couple hilton properties have no availability and I can't do a diamond force. The Doubletree is coming out to $170 a night and Marriott is more than that if you don't prepay and both those properties were only around $99 a night last year.

I was able to get the Roosevelt for $159 a night. Hopefully something cheaper comes up.

I think everyone is hurting less this year. I've noticed that bars where I live seem to be busier now than they were in 2011. Probably more people can afford to go to NOLA this year. I was thinking about booking later in the summer but thanks for the heads up :)

And hopefully this also means New Orleans is making even more of a post-Katrina comeback. I am glad to see they are selling out hotels again even if that means I have to pay a higher rate during decadence.

I usually have a small party on Sunday before/after the parade. Will post details a few days before.

I've been holding onto 4-night reservation at the Hilton St. Charles for Decadence because of the great rate I got back in March when I booked it, less than $130 a night. However, I think I'm going to stay at the new Hyatt French Quarter instead. If you're interested, I'll let you know when I cancel the Hilton reservation.

I'm not sure what else might be going on that weekend in NOLA, but I can't get anyone to join me on this trip. All my friends are broke this year, like 2009 finally caught up to them. :(
