KLM Flying Dutchman - Seat selection on Delta codeshares operated by KLM

I am flying to Tanzania in July on the following itinerary:
IAD-AMS-NBO-DAR-NBO-AMS-IAD. The IAD-AMS-NBO and NBO-AMS-IAD are Delta codeshares operated by KLM. I am Silver medallion on Delta.

I am able to pull up my reservation on both klm.com and delta.com. I initially selected my seats on delta.com. Now the seats do not appear on the reservation when viewed at klm.com. Comparing the seat maps, it looks like Delta has blocked out the aisle seats in the front half of the coach cabin, for the first two flights. I decided then to select seats on klm.com because I can sit much further forward on the aisle, when selecting my seats there. I now have different seat assignments for each flight. Which ones will actually be granted to me on my boarding pass?

DL usually has wrong seat maps for partner airlines. So it's better to select your seat on KL site for the flights operated on KL metal.

I had the same problem for my flight today to Montreal, DL-coded, KL-operated.

Short story, if the seats are not in the system of the operating airline the seats are not confirmed.

If you want to avoid problems book the seats through the KL website.

Interesting, well on the last flight...I snagged what looks to be an exit row seat which is not being charged for (31A on the A330-300). I guess I will need to go on Delta, move to another seat, then go on KLM and snag it? It's showing up as occupied on KLM.

KLM metal seats picked on delta.dumb or through DL phone agents tend not to stick. You must find your itinerary on klm.com and pick seats there for flights operated by KLM. This has been happening since the NW/DL merger.

This happens to me all the time. To avoid complications, when I am booking my tickets through DL I just do not select a seat on the KL flights. Then after I have placed the order, I go to KL and pick my seat.

Best bet is site of metal. I do KL-DL-AF trips often and have to select seats on all three sites in order to have any chance of having the seats stick.
