bmi diamond club - Amex Foursquare promo - does it work with MBNA cards?
Amex and Foursquare are running a promo where you can check in and earn statement credit when shopping at certain retailers and chain restaurants.
Does anyone know if the offer applies to MBNA issued cards like the bmi Amex too?

Yes, according to this website (http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/shopping/2012/06/discounts-bonus-for-amex-cardholders).

Remember the statement credit is once only per card, not per merchant.

I've had three statement credits so far on my BA Amex for three different retailers. So I'd say it's once per merchant.
I just looked at the 4squares app, decided that I didn't like how much access it had to my personal info so didn't download it.
Then, the very next day I started recieving spam mails from 4squares email accounts saying so and so has confirmed your friends request - people I don't know! I'm not clicking on any of the links, but think its weird that I've never had any spam from them and then all of sudden this happens.
Has anyone else noticed this?

Pretty sure it is once per merchant, per card. So if you have one card, you can only get a statement credit from each merchant once. If you have two cards it sounds like you could use the second card to get a second credit per merchant(after swapping the linked card on fourswuare) but this is uncertain.

I had one of these as well, with a link to a russian website, I had however signed up (free money for a few check-ins is just too tempting since I already shop at TESCO and EAT)

Yes, I signed up and started receiving those emails. Fortunately Gmail has been automatically dumping these into spam. I'll just ignore them...

The app has been 'enhanced' (at least the iPhone one, so I'm sure other platforms will be updated if they've not been already), now it's harder to see which places have the special offers on.
They're still there, you just need to click on the retailer first and the offer should be listed.

You need to checkin before you can activate the offer but in your case Tesco Regional doesn't count, it need's to be Tesco Mainline.

Had nothing appear on my local (mainline) Tesco, either. Shall perhaps try Tesco Extra when I next pass through it.
Looks like there's a bug in the latest version of the iPhone app that's stopping this working. Not sure if this bug is also present on other platforms. In my earlier post I thought that it was still working (just harder to find) but I was wrong.
So if you have a version of the Foursquare app where this still works then don't update it.

Well, I went to a Tesco Extra the other day, and it did indeed show the offer, but the "Load to Card" button was greyed out, telling me I had to check in... which I had of course done, several times.

Exactly same thing at Pizza Express last Thursday night. 'Load to Card' was greyed out, telling me I had to check in, but according to the app, I was checked in. I rinsed and repeated several times, but it refused to work.
I filled out this form to advise them [https://sync.americanexpress.co.uk/Foursquare/CustomerService] but no reply back yet - the auto reply said within 2 working days.

i have the same problem
got this reply from them:
One thing to check - make sure that you're not checking in "off the grid", or privately. You can't unlock specials unless your check-ins are public.
due to the wording, i'm not completely sure where that is  . in the privacy settings, where it says make them "public"?

Yes that's the bug. Seen a reply on twitter that they're aware of it.
Only happened when the app was updated.
Are you all iPhone users or is this affecting Android, Blackberry, etc too?

Got a reply, to say that they've fixed the error earlier this week. Low and behold, went to another Pizza Express today and it worked - no problem loading the offer to the card after I checked-in ^

yep, i got it too
We have recently received reports of a bug with special unlocks over this past weekend, and our engineering team has looked into it. Specials should be working properly now. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused during this time. You should be able to unlock specials properly now, but please let me know if you have any more trouble.
now to try it all again
I'm on android btw
I've now tried this offer everywhere listed on the Amex site (except Primark*) and it has worked giving me a decent amount of savings and almost free meals.
One thing to note is that when you check in to a participating place up will pop a box saying 'you've unlocked a special' but at this point the offer is not activated. You need to click continue and then click on the offer listing itself within the app and then click 'load to card'.
Credit seems to appear on your card within a week.
* Was surprised to see Primark accepted Amex, but after looking in one of their stores many years ago I have no urge to go back.
There is another thread on Foursquare/Amex at the Amex forum:
