Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer - KF Upgrade and Accrue to UA Possible?

I am wondering if anyone has practical experience booking a flex fare on singaporeair.com, using KF miles to upgrade and then banking the miles to UAMP. I see people that bank to UA and accrue revenue to PPS, but I didn't see anyone specifically indicate that worked in conjunction with an upgrade also. Thanks for your advice!

You may, but you would need to ask SQ to remove your FFP at check in. Then you would most likely need to credit your miles manually and prepare to write to MP to say that you used miles to upgrade and that is why the booking class shows up as "I" whereas the purchased ticket is in ...(whatever).

I'm in the same boat. Purchased ticket form SQ website and used KF miles to upgrade r/t to J. Ideally want to credit miles to AC to maintain *G status.

I did a search before I bought the ticket and found that a couple of people were able to get the check-in agent to change their frequent flier numbers at check-in.

However, the point above has now dawned on me: how would AC, in this example, know that this was a commercial ticket that was upgraded to I class vs just an I class reward redemption (in which case no miles accrue)???

Do people think it's safer to fly with no FF info on the boarding pass or to try and get SQ to add my AC info pre-departure?

Thanks for the quick reply - sounds like I'd just be better off redeeming an award and not worrying about it. I'll never work up the energy to have that fight with UAMP.

Easy, did it before on an upgrade to Bali, credited miles to A3.

Firstly, book your mileage accruable ticket and supply your UAMP number.
Secondly, go to the SQ office or call up the hotline to upgrade your ticket via the KF account. Be sure to mention how bad the website is to get the 15% discount honored.
Thirdly, call back to the call centre separately and make sure your UAMP number is in the booking. If not tell the agent on the line to remove existing and re enter the UAMP number.

For award tickets PPS value is non accruable. I you want to give it a go, try double dipping, that is during check in, let the agent enter your KF number into the FQTS field and the UAMP into the FQTV field, and then cross your fingers. :)
