Quick review of the property.

Good parking. Nice area, about 2 miles from sligo city, and about 4 miles from Rosses point.

Great spa area, wide range of treatments, well equiped Gym, very nice looking indoor pool.

We booked 2 nights in a standard room. Initially booked 1 night on radisson website, 2nd night not available. Phone property to advise late arrival, and they had 1 room come free for the following night so took it too. Was advised that upgrade was not possible (I'm gold) as hotel was fully booked for the saturday night (which was confirmed on the website).

On arrival, no mention of upgrade, but indeed got a really great business/exec suite. Very large, corner suite so beautifully bright, looking out onto the sligo mountains (think it was the lough gill suite ?). Business suite includes free movies, free mineral water, and free internet.

Room was well equiped except for the TV. TV was an old CRT type TV, approx 20", set in the far corner of the the room and thus a small picture from the bed. Also, the "movies" consists of 4 channels, 2 adult, and 2 regular, with movies shown on a loop at fixed times...seems like an in-room system from years ago...but this hotel is only open 6-7 years.

King bed was two twins pushed together and fastened, but was very spacious and very comfortable.

Breakfast was a good quailty buffet, with usual cereals, fruit, juices, hot breakfast and cold meats.

Was denied late checkout on morning of departure, again due to being fully booked for that night, which again was correct.

All in all a great property, only let down slighty by the old fashion TV/movie set-up.

Stayed here again this weekend. 2 rooms on a 2-4-1 gold rate.

I got upgraded to a "business class" room, which wasn't anywhere near as good as the suite we had the last time. My companions, who aren't members did not get an upgrade (I booked both rooms but i guess its fair enough that only I got the upgrade).

Our room had a separate desk area, two TVs (still old CRT style) and the mini-bar was full, but mostly with non-alcoholic beverages except for a couple of beers. Found out on check-out that the water was complimentary.

Got 15% of food (but NOT drinks) in the bar, but to do so you need to show your gold card each time you pay, even if it is being assigned to the room.

Breakfast was great (hard to beleive it was included in the 2-4-1 rate, which worked out @ €37.50 a night for the room).

Air con wasn't up to the job, note this was in jan when the outside temp was only 4-5 degrees c, but room was still far too warm, the dial said it was set to 16c (the lowest), but it was more like 20c, had to have both windows open.

quality of food was fine in the bar not exceptional.

For a great place to eat try fiddler's creek in sligo town, its along the river walkway. Very good staff and excellent food. We went in in-between food times (4pm, wasn't serving food until 5), after we sat for 30mins or so we asked for some snacks, and were given a large basket of chips (fries) complimentary. We were so impressed we stay around until 5 and ate there, and the food was excellent.

How would this location be for families? We have two kids, 6 and 9. Do you think we'd need two rooms? Thanks for any insight...following your blog now!

I don't have a family so don't naturally see things from that point of view. However hope the following is of some use.

The basic room can be booked with twin beds instead of kind bed. There is an indoor pool which might be useful. Be best to book a breakfast inclusive rate as breakfast is €15. Hotel is in its own grounds, but nothing within easy walking distance. Sligo town is about 2 miles away, beach and beachwalks are about 3 miles away. Hotel seems to partake in the gold 2-4-1 quite a bit, which would be a good saving for you.

Blog will be updated shortly.

Thanks! Just trying to decide now between this one and LetterKenny. This one is quite a bit cheaper, but we want to go to Giant's Causeway so may be worth the $$ not to make the drive so far.

I know it hurts folks here to spend money, but look at the Premiere Inn in Coleraine. Not far from the Giant's Causeway and on a good special, $40 or so per night. Premiere is not a fancy chain, but it's good, and a lot easier than driving from Sligo or Letterkenny to the Giant's Causeway.

Thanks! Will definitely check it out. (And I SO hear you. One of my faves in Dublin is the Bewley's chain. Everyone knows their Tea shop, but I really like their hotels.)
