Hi,

In the past year, 600 status credits were obtained, and I also achieved 4 QF flights. The Gold membership in the previous year was obtained on a Partner Gold membership. However this year, I logged in to see I have been downgraded to "Qantas Club Silver". At the start of my renewal year (1 June), I called as I did not receive a new card (and still have not to this date!).

Has there been a change in Qantas policy? Kind of annoyed about this. And won't be directing any business to QF in the future as a result of this incompetence. No wonder the airline is losing money left right and centre

There have been conflicting reports re a PG needing 600 or 700 SC's to [re]qualify - would indicate that 700 is indeed required.

However, there is an issue with the Qantas website that states only the requalification level.

i.e. IF a PG log on and has earn 400 SC's, the web site will state 200 are required to retain that status - not the actual 300.

It confused me last year as the web site contradicts the QFF T&C's - SWMBO was PG, but did earn the 700+ SC's in any case, so the point was moot.

PG (ie not earnt by the partner) is subject to a initial re-qualification to retain of 700 sc, additional years re-qualified should be at the 600sc mark IIRC.

Hello VA!

I would start talking to QF along those lines and see what they say. If QF has some sense they will make you Gold.

If they have any sense, if talked to like that, I would be expecting to offer to close the account for the member who obviously no longer wants it

It is no different than for anyone else who earns 600 points but doesnt meet the initial qualification requirements

It is no different than for anyone else who earns 600 points but doesnt meet the initial qualification requirementsIf the person who was Partner Gold was misled by the website into believing that only 600 SCs was needed to earn a further year of Gold, when the truth (undisclosed by QF) is that a Partner Gold actually needs to qualify with 700 SCs to get a further year's Gold (this time in their own right), then being thus misled is a valid complaint. IMHO.

Mrs. Tyrolean's Account states: You need 600SC to retain your Gold level.

(attained Gold through me)

I do not see anything else. So if she flies 600 SC on her own and I fail to get the 2400 SC, I really would be not amused if she would drop to Sliver!

Good morning everyone,

Just thought I'd post an update. I contacted the FF and QC service centre this morning asking about this. The outcome of the call was slightly ambiguous. The lady on the other end said it definitely looks like I have retained Gold (being the 600SCs), BUT nothing could be done immediately until my case is run by the seniors upstairs. In the girl's defence, she was apologetic and said it seems most likely Gold will be reinstated.

So I will let you all know how things go in the next day or two. Hopefully this debate of 600 vs. 700 SC retention for PG will be solved once and for all.

(And I know this issue seems petty, especially to many of you who fly a lot more than this, so I apologise for the pettiness - but thank you for all of your opinions, advice and tips)

And I know this issue seems petty ...If you were misled by the QF website and you relied on that misleading information, the issue is far from petty and there's no need to apologise!
