InterContinental Hotels: Priority Club & Inter-Continental Ambassador - PC Visa - Moving Up Due Date Backfired - Pushed it Back - How to fix?

I applied for my PC Visa a week ago and got it today in the mail (no e-mail or other confirmation - supposedly this is by design for security reasons).

So, I called Customer Service to move up the due date thinking it would move up the statement date and have my bonus faster. I guess I moved it up too much. I said to move it to the 15th, hoping the statement date would be the 7th of June.

The computer calculated it and set it to July 7th :( They said that you can only change the due date once every 6 months. So, that won't work.

So, my plan backfired :( My understanding is that no status change (which is what I care about) until the bonus posts. Is there any way around it? I can wait for the 80K points - have a stay coming up in 3 weeks so I hope to have the status.

How about the point rebates for my stay that is coming up (reserved before I got the card)? Would I get them?

Thanks.

Phone them again, put a spin on it that it was the first operatives mistake and ask them to bring it back to the earliest possible date that their system can cope with. If you convince them it was their misunderstanding I'm sure the rule won't apply.

As far as point rebates go for a reservation already made It may depend on the rate type and if it's already been charged to the card used for the reservation originally? Or if it's cancellable maybe look to re-booking if the price hasn't gone up?

I've been Platinum for a few year, and it hasn't really gotten me much so far. I know this can vary depending on the property, and maybe you have knowledge of Platinums being treated well at your chosen hotel, but it hasn't made much difference for me.

Based on my experience with other Chase cards, their system would NOT allow manual over-ride back to the pre-change date even after a manager's intervention. Many CSRs dont know that the chance to change is only ONCE - there is no going back UNTIL next billing cycle is finished.

Further more, change would ONLY BE EFFECTIVE on the NEXT billing cycle. Therefore whatever change you request, only happens on the following statement, not the current statement.

The rebate only applies on the Points which has nothing to do with "charges" made on the CC. Point booking is almost always cancellable. The issue is, whether there is still award availability if the poster decides to cancel and rebook.

The PC reservation system KNOWS your Chase Visa card status and eventually (at least that is how it is done in the past) there is a line entry in your account to indicate this linkage. Dont remember the wording though.

As another poster points out, having PLAT status does not mean much with IHG hotels. You occasionally get a better room but that is pretty much about it. 2pm check out is available to ALL PC members, status or no status.
