Also, what are the benefits of the so called "Virtuoso" travel agents? I know it's a brand. My agent doesn't necessarily have to be a Virtuoso but s/he has to be a virtuoso anyways. :)

Most air agents in the US are cautious about taking on non-US clients, and if you're based in Europe, you're better off with a European TA anyway. A ticket booked by a US agent will be charged in US dollars.

What are the benefits of a Virtuoso agent? If your main reason for working with a TA is to book coach air, I don't think there are any advantages to having a agent who is part of any particular consortium.

If you want to book five-star hotels that are members of Virtuoso, or to plan luxury independent itineraries, then you may benefit from a TA who is part of Virtuoso.

Interesting. Why are they cautious? Charging in US dollars is not a problem.

Luxury independent itineraries... hm. Let's take a look at this. How about Albania? A nice country by all means. Said to be the best untouched beaches in Europe. It only has a few luxury hotels in the capital but the country is worth visiting anways. So how does the luxury traveller "does" Albania? He buys the definitive guidebook (http://www.bradtguides.com/Book/487/Albania.html), reads it, realizes there is only a few luxury hotels in the capital, contacts his Virtuoso agent then what?

Would you be kind to explain why did you have to exile my thread from TravelBuzz! to "Destinations > Europe" not to be seen by the target market ever again?

The title clearly states "Departure > Europe" and you put it into the "Destinations > Europe" folder. Strange.

Thanks kindly!

Because I have been asked to respond, I will, albeit briefly. I have no expertise in Albania and there are no Virtuoso properties in Albania. I would either (1) refer the client to a colleague who has experience in eastern Europe or (2) work through an onsite or tour company with such experience in order to develop an itinerary.

Thanks, I understand!
