Wonderful... not. If they join SkyTeam I'm leaving right away, no question about that...

Speculation on QR joining Oneworld is probably more viable. Through all of the blind speculation and vaporware here, British Airways CEO Walsh's discussion of QR's potential inclusion is the only published primary-source information I have ever seen about any potential alliance tie-up.

Though I doubt that Qatar will join in the near future.

To the code-share termination, as United flyer, I say, "too bad, it's a big loss as a partner." As a Qatar flyer, I say, "good riddance to a junk airline that is getting worse all the time."

So does anyone have any idea how to fly on Qatar Airways now from a non "gateway" city. Do we have to have two seperate reservations now? The bigger problem is with bags. It seems now like we will have to check in bag from our cities, pick them up in IAD, JFK, or IAH and then check them in directly with QR.

Signs of frustration that Qatar tried to join star for years without any commitment from the big brother in Europe. May be finally give up now.

Also signs of OneWorld talks with BA to start any time. If possible may join OneWorld in a fire pace (between November this year to March next year)

Another signs of competition between Etihad and Qatar over OneWorld membership (but willy Walsh did indicate Etihad is in talk with Air France).

What are the implications for the PC members if they do indeed join OW?

We get matching status and all the perks? Perhaps I can burn my Qmiles on CX F?

I guess members will be offered ow ruby, sapphire and emerald if Qatar joins OneWorld. You will certainly be able to use miles on CX F or BA F

I saw this and thought this was interesting.
