I have tried this several times. I know Hotwire's prices can be a bit random, but this seems to be the case.

For a 3-night stay, I noticed the Sheraton Tribeca came up (based on best-guess matching criteria) at $116 per night through the rebate page.

When I tried on my phone, it was $113.

When I cleared all cookies in my browser, it was $113.

When I cleared all cookies in my browser and tried the Hotwire rebate page again, I got the $116 figure back.

I guess the rebate page, after refunding the $20 but charging $10 more, would still save about $10, but it's not so good a deal as advertised.

I'd go w/ Sheraton Tribeca over East Village Hotel :)

Squeakr, never fear! I ended up booking the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Tribeca through www.lmtclub.com .
