]I have not been on FlyerTalk for a while & did not know which forum to post this to.
Jen is just 20. She just moved to:
Daly City
At 7 AM tomorrow (Mon. 4 June) Jen must be at:
San Francisco State University. Address is: 1600 Halloway, San Francisco, CA 94132
The problem is that Jen's apartment is in San Mateo County and she must get to San Francisco County. I looked on the Campus website & got confused by: using Bart, or Caltrain, or SF Muni, or SamTrans?
At 6 PM tomorrow: From the University,
1600 Halloway, San Francisco, CA 94132 to SFO Airport, what is the FASTEST transport?
Please, Locals, can U help Jen? Thank U in advance from Grama of the future Doctor Jennifer Lynn.
Please continue to follow this in the San Francisco forum.
Additionally, I have removed the young woman's street address for her protection.

I don't get it
Editing out the address: FlyerTalk is a public forum, read by thousands of people daily. It's probably not a good idea to publish your granddaughter's address where it's accessible to so many people.
Moving the thread: people in the San Francisco area are more likely to know the answer to your question.

SF State is near the southern boundary between SF and SM counties. Daly City is right across the border in SM county.
Not knowing the specific address in Daly City, the fastest way to get to SF State is probably by taxi. Similarly, the fastest way to get to the airport from SFS is by taxi.
At 7am, pressed for time, for a short trip I've never done before I think i would take a taxi any day of the week. There's nothing like having someone waiting at your door to drive you when you need it.
Google maps says the fastest public transit option to the airport is to take the 28 bus to Daly City Bart and then the Bart to the airport which would take 40-50 minutes. IIRC you have to pay both fares and don't get a single ticket and the Bart is expensive to the airport so it'll probably end up being $8-10 -- I'm not actually sure it would save much over a taxi.
Another option in SF is to call Supershuttle. It's not the fastest option because they make other stops and pick up or drop off other people along the way. But if you're coming from Daly City there's a good chance you're the closest stop to the airport so it might make sense.
I predict this thread quickly devolves into a discussion of helicopter parenting and whether doctors that can't figure out how to use public transit are a positive development or not. Hopefully Jen is a capable young woman with a grandmother who is just trying trying to be helpful :)

the SF State shuttle does not run in the summer so the 28 Bus from Daly City BART is an option. It's a 5 min bus ride, buses leave every 15 min or so. GO to 511.org to plan the trip from her residence.
Cab from Daly City BART is about $15 to State.
From State to SFO is trickier if she's on a time schedule . 28 bus again to Daly City BART then BART to SFO.
HOWEVER if she is a med student, are you sure she's going to SF State? The medical School her is UCSF not SF State .

@:-)Thank U for your help. I already had the Taxi figured out. I don't know what Profs R thinking, giving a test at 5 PM on the first day of class. Jen has 2 more weeks at UCI (Irvine) before she walks - finished cum laude in 3 years. Now 2 more years of pre-med and the 4 (at least) at med school & interning. Must love school.
Re Helicopters: I want one of those little cars that sprouts wings & flies. Maybe not in my lifetime.

and to avoid possible future bad transportation advice -be sure that you don't say g-daughter is going to med school here, as that is a totally different school and location (UC San Francisco not SF State ) she is not going to UCSF, the medical school, she's going to State for what sounds like undergrad pre-med requirements. BIG difference in transportation options.

She had 3 years of poly-sci & econ to prepare for Law. Her Bro just finished first year at UCLA School of Law. She studied (and tutored) 3 years of The Brain, fell in love with The Brain, and now needs the pre-requisites for medical school. She will be a Neurologist.
No, Grama's not proud.

OMG...what a confusing thread with an overabundance of extraneous information! :D
If you are a grandma, you'll understand: Just the facts, ma'am. Just the facts.
