I stayed at Indigo Xiamen Harbour (2nd Indigo in China) in a Seaview room from 30th May to 2 June. The hotel was newly opened, and the interior design was hip and trendy. Customer services still need a lot of improvement, but overall I would say the hotel is the best of what Xiamen could offer... at least for now. Whenever I had problems, I would voice out my concerns to their Operations Manager Kevin Tao. He would then respond quickly, so he was one of the highlights of my stay. Another highlight was the F&B manager Zakia, who was extremely attentive to customer needs.

Pros of Indigo Xiamen Harbour:
- Nice view of Guliangyu Island
- 10 minutes walk from ferry to Guliangyu
- 5 minutes walk from Zhongshanlu shopping district
- 5 minutes taxi from Xiamen University
- Nice, comfortable rooms, with quiet air conditioning and nice beddings
- Damana bathroom amenities, TOTO Neorest toilet
- Plenty of international sockets
- Breakfast was good, room service was good (must try their satay noodles or Sachamian)

Cons of Indigo Xiamen Harbour
- No desk of suitable height for writing or typing on computer (had to work lying on the bed)
- Limited eating options (the hotel has only one restaurant called Quay that is like a cafe/lounge hybrid)
- Apart from few exceptional staff, most staff were inexperienced and were either too slow or too junior to handle any situation
- Lack of information on hotel website (for example, dimension of rooms)

Despite much room for improvement, I believe Indigo Xiamen Harbour has the potential to become the best hotel in Xiamen (even though Westin Xiamen has just opened). It just needs to stay on its course as a boutique hotel and make all its services more close to the customer's heart.

Just got back from here and have a very positive report. I am really impressed with the hotel design -- the rooms are fresh and upscale with a unique design, and the lobby has a funky, artsy feel.

I echo many of kuponuts's comments. A lot of details are well-done here, including the excellent toiletries, universal power outlets, art in the room, Toto washlet, and very comfortable bed. The shower is spacious and with great water pressure from the rain-type head (which is also lighted). I also like the fact that there is a real black-out shade -- the room gets almost pitch black if one chooses. I had a better experience with service than the OP, however; all of the staff were enthusiastic, helpful, and English-speaking.

The location is great. My only complaints are the lack of a desk or real workspace and that they neglected my wake-up call. I didn't try the restaurant.

Of course it's not as elegant as the Westin, and without the F&B or other amenities, but, given the much better location and at half the price, I would stay at the Indigo again.
