Does anybody know how I can book a flight on Azul? I've tried to book online for the past hour and I've got nowhere. I do not reside in Brazil and I'd like to book one domestic flight with Azul, how can this be done? If I need to contact a local travel agent, could any FTers recommend a reputable travel agent.
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
Try http://www.decolar.com. It's a good latin american online travel agency.
Today, Azul don't sold air tickets for foreigners.

I'm sure Azul does sell to foreigners but not overseas. You'd need a CPF (like Social Security # and a Brazilian credit card). Typical of some other airlines, as well (and, to be fair, some U.S. airlines require a credit card with a U.S. billing address unless booking through their overseas offices, if there is one). My wife had a bad experience with Decolar (more of a discount booking site than travel agency, but no matter) booking within Brazil when she needed to correct the spelling of a passenger's name (fee would have been more than the ticket price). And if you need to phone you may need to speak Portuguese. And you'll get charged in Reais. I think this would be the case with any Brazilian booking service or Web site or travel agency. I have heard good reports of Azul.
Azul isn't the only airline with such obstacles in Brazil. I've heard some people getting around it with Gol by using Gol's Argentine Web site. TAM has overseas Web sites (at least US and the UK), plus you can book through Web sites such as Expedia and get charged in US Dollars.

Seriously, what did you expect?

Now, now. Don't be snide. It's not what I personally expect. But some people, based on posts I've seen elsewhere, think they'll find English speakers on the phone and if they haven't traveled much or charged things by phone overseas may not remember that they'll get charge in Reais and, thus, possibly have to pay a foreign currency transaction charge with their U.S. credit card. Whether or not they should expect these things is another question. Just things to remember. You don't need to.

As a "gringo" I've had the experience of booking (or trying atleast) with nearly every Brazilian domestic carrier.
The only one that's gone smoothly is TAM.
Can you really trick it with Gol that way? Whenever I tried to book with them in the past (years ago) the booking would eventually collapse.... They'd then hold the reservation for me until I could get to the airport and pay for it in person, which was very generous.
As to Azul, when I booked with them, I had to use a Brazilian friend's card and details. Not ideal
The last time I checked (maybe this has changed?) neither decolar.com nor submarinoviagens.com.br allowed foreign credit cards to make bookings, unfortunately :(
