Best Western Rewards - Easiest way to get 9,000 points
I need an additional 9,000 points in order to redeem the points for a hotel stay. I already have the BW Mastercard, however I will never be able to spend enough to earn the points.
I currently have Amex, RBC and Aeroplan points that I am willing to transfer for the BW points. What is the best program to transfer the points and how do I go about doing it?
thanks

Well, you belong to those programs, so can't you go to their websites and see what the transfer ratio is (if transfers are possible at all; can you really transfer from Aeroplan to Best Western???). Usually it's possible on to transfer from hotels to airlines, not vica versa.
I think Amex can transfer directly IIRC, but I don't have an Amex MR, and at any rate if you're in Canada (as your other two points programs imply), the transfer ratios and availabilities in Canada are sometimes different from the US, so a US-based answer might not be correct for anyway.
If you can transfer from only one of them, then "best" devolves to "only", and then there is no choice to be made (other than to transfer or not)!
For me, the best program to transfer to BW is Diners Club (US/Canada) Club Rewards, but if you don't have Diners Club card, that can't help you (since you can't even apply for one right now).

As sdsearch mentioned, DC Club Rewards is the only credit card program ( other than the MBNA BW Mastercard of course ) that I am aware of that allows direct transfers to BW points.
I believe BW allows point transfers between accounts that have the same address. So if you have a friend / relative with some extra BW points you may want to " move in " with them for the time it takes to make the transfer.
The easiest ( although perhaps not the most cost effective ) way is probably to purchase the points. BW charges $ 10 to purchase 1,000 points. I thought that you had to have some type of elite status with BW to purchase points, but I don't see that mentioned on their website.
Another possibility that may be worth investigating is this offer from points.com; https://www.points.com/loyalty-program/best-western-rewards . $ 67 for 10,000 points is a reasonable price. Not sure if this promo is still valid and it appears that you need to be a points.com member to find out more.
So I could get my girlfriend who I live with to apply for the card and then transfer the 9K in points to me free of charge?

Although I don't have any direct personal experience with this strategy it certainly seems like it should work. See item # 27 in the Gold Crown Club FAQ's; https://goldcrownclub.bestwestern.com/custserv/faq.asp .
The only issue may be one of timing. I believe you currently receive 20,000 BW Reward points with a new MBNA BW MC. But you probably have to wait for a statement cycle to receive the points, and then it may take a while for them to show up in your girlfriend's BW account.
So if you need the points right away this may not be a good strategy. If you aren't in any hurry it should work just fine.
