Following the transfer of 9 destinations to BA and the suspension of 2 others bmi is left with 5 shorthaul routes to the UK/Ireland (of which BA already fly to 3) and 16 to Asia/Africa (of which BA fly to 4). A handful of these slots have to be offered up to other airlines.

The 9 routes transferred were all short haul, low frequency routes so presumably the easiest to test the system with - not sure how many weekly seats there are to the 16 long haul destinations, some destinations are add ons and several are not daily so not a huge number, will these be next to go to BA?

Assuming that the flights to Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Manchester, Cairo, Jeddah, Moscow, Riyadh, Basel, Marrakech, Nice and Vienna are totally absorbed into the BA existing network for the winter season with perhaps a couple of extra frequencies or larger aircraft it will leave a very slimmed down operation at T1, even if the new flights to Rotterdam, Leeds and Zagreb - and perhaps Marrakech will remain at Heathrow - are based there.

Of those RAK is served from LGW by BA so not sure if they will pull LHR or operate from both. Can't see it leaving LGW. Bergen and Stavanger will prob remain in the network and Beirut too. Nice will go since BA have 8 daily flights already + 3 from LGW and 1 from LCY.

It seems that they're operating the A320 to BEY. Doesn't the A320 fleet have no proper business class?

The BA website always shows (and used to show back in the BA7507 codeshare days, and in the BMED days) A320 for bmi operated flights using A321.

bmi's A321s as well as 4 A320s have proper Business class cradle seats (of which 2 are more proper than the others ;))

4 A320s

Only 2 A320s - G-MEDH/K - have Business Class seats now & when they transfer to BA they will revert to a shorthaul configuration also.

Long time no hear? :)
Are you referring to row 6 A/C?

I have much more free time now! Coming up to BEY soon?

What I meant by 'more proper than others' was that 2 have the same seats as the A321s (G-MEDH/K) and that 2 others have (well, had, according to TCX69) 2x2 cradle seats but with less features that primarily used to fly to DME. Those two were G-MIDT and DX.

Speaking of BEY, I just tried to make a change to a July LHR-BEY-LHR flight, which I had booked with BMI, and flybmi told me that that flight had switched to BA systems, so it referred me to BA.com. I couldn't make the date change on the website so I called BA and was told that because I booked on BMI ticket stock BMI had to handle it . . . . Anyway this suggests that maybe BEY is among the next to be transferred to BA from BMI systems?

Not necessarily, but it does reflect the fact that all bmi mainline ticket sales are done via BA.com and not flybmi.com which is only dealing with bmi-R flights now.

Just give the bmi call centre a shout and they should be able to sort it for you (as per whatever the terms of your ticket are) as the tickets will be on their systems.

A post on the BA forum suggests that BEY is switching over to BA flight numbers (BA8050) on 4 July. However, that is only for the BD907. BD997 flights to BEY and KRT will remain as they are for now.

That's a shame, I was thinking of using the last of my miles to go down to BEY or AMM again at the end of the summer TT. So now it looks like it won't be possible and I can't do the J for Y miles option either. Pretty disappointed that BA have given a token guarantee to all this.

Any ideas what BA is going to do with Almaty and Amritsar?

Do they still fly to Amritsar? It doesn't show up in the routemap on the BMI website.

Why can't you? You can even still use eGUVs (well, until 4 July) on BD flight numbers and BD tickets!

You can definitely still use Y miles for J as long as you are Gold and travelling yourself.
