You are speaking Chinglish (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWDEIvjwaFU). RJ77 Jun 3, 12, 1:50 am All of should be on their platform because we like China. You are speaking Chinglish (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWDEIvjwaFU). I fixed my grammar in the OP, and believe if it is proper now... I still have a grasp of the English language, in spite of the fact that I have been in China for a long time. But, cut me some slack, please (two jobs, two cities). Shimon Jun 3, 12, 1:35 pm What is this "movement" you speak of? Does involve curing Chinglish? HkCaGu Jun 4, 12, 12:43 am What is this "movement" you speak of? Does involve curing Chinglish? The fourth is supposedly a movement. But today is the thirty-fifth, which isn't usually referred to as a movement. trueblu Jun 4, 12, 3:47 am I think it's pretty obvious what md meant. Not sure how useful this service is to us non-chinese speakers, however. I do enjoy reading the occasional digest from other sources, however. tb moondog Jun 4, 12, 4:56 am I think it's pretty obvious what md meant. Not sure how useful this service is to us non-chinese speakers, however. I do enjoy reading the occasional digest from other sources, however. tb I think it's useful to all for several reasons: 1) it is rapidly displacing other forms of communication (not completely, but I know a lot of people who have all but stopped using MSN/QQ/gchat in favor of Sina Weibo) 2) 300 million users 3) it's a good way to practice your Chinese; most posts are very easy for us foreign folks to process 4) failing that, google translate is increasingly accurate these days 5) if you want to know what is happening in this country, it is the go to source -caveat: crazy rumors do spread from time to time; filtering them out is often just a matter of common sense -many of them end up being much closer to reality than we assume at first glance 6) some people post some really interesting pictures/content 7) you can post in any language 8) people often describe it as the Chinese Twitter, but IMO it is a much richer product (this is often the case when Chinese companies clone foreign business models; e.g. qunar is better than Kayak across the board) 9) you can't use it without an account -while this doesn't make it "useful", it is a reason to get onboard fimo Jun 4, 12, 8:38 am I've yet to get around to creating an acct, as some colleagues do ask me if I have one and offer their info. Any suggestions on what are the good users/streams to follow? I have no idea how to even begin to know who's who on Weibo! Shimon Jun 4, 12, 9:21 am Unless wild rumours (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/china/1195110-japan-quake-causes-panic-china.html)are your thing, best find another hobby. |
