Virgin Atlantic Flying Club - Looking for a 747 on LHR - LAX / UC

HI All,
My boyfriend has treated me to a LAX - LHR - LAX UC (awards ticket) jaunt. I'm leaving tonight on the evening flight (and was amused to see I got "bumped" out of 8G for slightly less desirable 10G, wonder if some high-roller will be there tonight!)

My return is flexible, currently July 2nd but will probably come back in a few weeks.

I see that VS occasionally subs in a 747 on this route (for instance there was one on the earlier flight on Wednesday of this week). But I don't see any rhyme or reason for when they do this. I'd love to experiences UC on a 747, and was wondering if there are any tricks to locating a day with that aircraft, beyond luck? I've obviously looked at the current schedules but don't see any with 747s.

Any tips, or is it simply chance?
Thanks!
Electra

8G is a bassinet position so that may be why you got moved.

The earlier flight (VS7/8) is sometimes a 747 but I'm not sure if there's a pattern. Looking at v-flyer, it seems that Thursday tends to mostly have a 747.

Thank you for tip about Thursday, I'll give it a look, and oh, I was hoping for Russell Brand, not a baby. Oh well...

VS usually schedules their 747-400s around the beginning and throughout the summer season between LHR-LAX. The earlier departure is usually a 747. Looking at v-flyer would be helpful to see the a/c's weekly schedule. Doing a dummy booking on the VS website will also show the operating a/c for the flight times you want.
