After downloading and running several pieces of anti-spyware software, I purchased last-minute tickets to Geneva at a public internet terminal at the Boston Public Library at Copley Place. I selected a deliberately circuitous route starting in Providence, Rhode Island, and passing through Detroit and Amsterdam.
The above quote, from Sakura Blue, a thriller novel, might make the uninitiated reader believe that the hero was trying to avoid being trailed. FTers, however, know better. He was simply trying to get as many SkyMiles as possible out of his Providence-Geneva itinerary.
The way I see it, he took Delta metal PVD-DTW-AMS and then got on a KLM flight to GVA. The book mentions that he flew in Biz Class, giving him 8022 MQMs in each direction. Two such trips in one year would give him Delta Silver Medallion and enough rollover MQMs (7088) to get him a good head start on qualifying the following year.
Of course, I might be wrong. It may develop later in the book that he did not fly back the same way. He may have flown even a longer route, shooting for Gold Medallion.
If you want to know, you can either read the book yourself, Sakura Blue (http://www.amazon.com/Sakura-Blue-Buddhas-Relics-ebook/dp/B0056HRZ96/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1338553685&sr=8-1), available on your Kindle for only $4.99, or else ask the author -- none other than our very own hoyateach.

Dovster, I don't care what everyone else says about you. *I* think you're a nice guy.:D
Thank you, my friend.

I hope you realize that with this post you have committed social suicide on Omni/PR.

I forgot to add well-groomed and pleasant-smelling.

Spoiler alert: my hero flies carriers on multiple alliances and, because he's a but of a privacy nut, doesn't bother maintaining a frequent flier account.

He is even more of a privacy nut than you know. Not only is he a SkyMiles Medallion member, but he has gone to extremes to hide that fact from you!

Will the book be available in physical edition at any time? I don't have a Kindle, and as much as I've tried, I can't get used to reading books on my iPhone.
Besides, I need a paper copy that I can have the author autograph at an FT do. ;)

Alas, no. Not yet, anyway. If that changes, I'll post it right here.
Thank you for your kind words!^

Warning -- some of the vocabulary on the first few pages will have you scratching your head and wondering what the heck it means.
Of course, the same is true with A Clockwork Orange and, in both cases, the reader quickly catches on.

Don't forget about that scorching man-on-sheep scene. Or as Dovster thinks of it, a quiet Tuesday.

On Sept 13, 2003, I started the Unabashed Cholula Spam Thread. (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/delta-skymiles-pre-worldperks-merger/61847-unabashed-cholula-spam.html)
At the time, Cholula was an unknown hot sauce peddler, living hand-to-mouth, and wondering where his next meal would come from (not to mention the fare for his next flight).
That thread remained open for two years and 5544 posts. By the time that it was closed, Cholula (the man), was a household name, a moderator, a TalkBoard member, a multi-millionaire in dollars and a multi-billionaire in SkyMiles. Cholula (the hot sauce) was available in every store in the United States (except The Gap).
Yet, sad to say, Cholula (the man) responded only by repeatedly insulting me in the thread and never once used his hoard of SkyMiles to pay for a Biz Elite r/t for me from Israel to the States.
Hoyateach (the man, not the sauce) has already followed Cholula's lead by insulting me in this thread:
"I don't care what everyone else says about you. *I* think you're a nice guy."
I sincerely hope that by the time this thread is two years old, has 5500+ posts, and hoyateach is a best-selling author who has put J.K. Rowling to shame, he will have at least used his SkyMiles to pay for my travel. (Assuming, of course, that SkyMiles will even pay for hot dogs in two years, much less air fares.)

Insult you? Moi? To the contrary: I defended you, my lecherous friend. And I shall continue to defend you despite the enormous social costs of doing so.
Moreover, I shall, here and now, commit to pay for your travel from my own hoard of SkyMiles once I have accumulated a satisfactory quantity. Ever been to Fort Wayne, Indiana? No? Then boy, howdy, are you in for a treat!
So, no, I would never insult you. You're my friend. And I shall stand by your side despite the scorn and derision I will doubtless face for it.
