Presented with an opportunity to upgrade my HKG-SIN & SIN-BKK flights to Business Class on both flights.

HKG-SIN is SQ 777-200
SIN-BKK is TG 777-200

I've heard negative things about the seats on this aircraft. Would be about $250 total for the upgrades. Worth it?

TG is offering upgrades on their own metal AND on SQ?

I'd go for it. HKG/SIN is 4 hours and SIN/BKK is two, so worth it for a bit of comfort.

Me too, go for TG601/TG409 and you will get a B747 and a 773, nice and comfy

As dsquared mentioned I don't quite understand how you are getting an upgrade on two different airlines for one price?

very strange. what is also strange is that TG do not operate flights between Hong Kong and Singapore.:confused:

Question: I'm just curious, is this offered to you over the phone or at online check-in or something else?

I didn't even catch the HKG-SIN aspect of it. This sounds like an SQ-SQ or SQ-TG itin rather than as posted in the OP.

Clarification would be good.

Sorry, my mistake of mixing up the airlines: HKG-SIN on SQ and SIN-BKK on TG (original post has been corrected).

The upgrade offer was mentioned to me by a local travel agent that booked my original flights. Each flight had its own, separate price; the $250 was the total price to me. Interestingly, he mentioned that most people do not take up these offers, as the flights are too short to settle into some quality relaxation, enjoy the food & drink, etc.

If the $250 is for both flights then jump on it.

My understanding TG tandby upgrade at airport cost USD250 per segment. Very unlikely his is for HKG-SIN on SQ and SIN-BKK on TG. If it is, I will grab it if money is not an issue

Since it was offered by the TA, maybe this was just an upfare to C on both flights?

If it's really $250, though, I'd be all over it like a cheap suit.

No way this is upfare to C, as it costs way more than that especially involve with two carriers, and one of them is SQ.

More than likely a deal with the consolidator the TA is using, or either (highly likely) TA use its miles for C award ticket HKG-SIN-BKK for OP, but ask OP to pay TA the cash for the "upgrade". TA pockets the $250 + the original fare, no one else does.
