oneworld - Booking seats for our RTW trip

We have booked a Global Explorer RTW trip with BA but will be travelling on BA, CX, QFA and AA. I know if we pay £60 each we can pre book our BA seats but can we pre book our other seats? Cathay replied to an email saying we can using our e ticket number but the website doesn't recognise our number (probably because the ticket was issued by BA). Any suggestions would be welcomed as we are novices at this (I even have to look up airline codes so I can read the threads on flyertalk!).

You should be able to use your 6-character booking reference number from BA to retrieve your reservation on CX's web site and select your seats. Go to this link and choose the Non-Member radio button: https://www.cathaypacific.com/cpa/en_INTL/manageyourtrip/managemybooking

And if that doesn't work, phone BA and ask them for the Underlying CX reservation number (its 5 digits). Then plug this 5 digit number into the CX website and see what they offer you. The BA number should work to get QF seats. Unsure about AA, but you could ask BA what the AA reservation number is and go into the AA site and try that.

CX now use Amadeus and the BA PNR should work on their website. There should be no other CX reference now.

You could also try entering the BA pnr into the manage booking section of the Finnair website. You may be able to select seats from there for some of the flights. Likewise the QF website will let you choose seats on some sectors if you are eligible.
As og states for AA you will probably need to ring BA to get the AA reference and then plug that into the AA website.

CX can still only book seats 6 months ahead online. Maybe somebody could advise if its 330 days if done by phone.

They will only take requests over the phone and cannot actually assign seats until the 180 day mark.

Putting your PNR into these sites can at times show you the other airline PNR
Apollo/Galileo: http://www.viewtrip.com
Sabre/Abacus: http://www.virtuallythere.com
Worldspan: http://www.mytripandmore.com
Amadeus:http://www.checkmytrip.com

That was the case before the system migration. Now ASR can be done on the spot even if more than 180 days.

BA, CX, & QF all use Amadeus. Even though AA use Sabre, you cannot view your AA PNR from Virtually There. I believe none of the OW carrier uses either Apollo / Galileo or Worldspan.

Thanks for the replies - we'll give it a try. I know we have plenty of time but it is exciting!
