Sorry if posted in wrong place.

I am trying to figure out the best routing price-wise or cpm. PHX would probably go thru LAX, SFO or SEA and getting into XMN could come from PEK, CAN, HKG.

I belong to a few frequent fly programs with status in none. If it matters at all, this is a one-way.

I wouldn't mind staying a few days in HKG, but not PEK or CAN.

I figure some experts may know if cheapest is LAX-HKG and that I should do that and get additional flights. I get great info from people on this website.

You can easily price a one-way ticket on a variety of websites, including Travelocity and Expedia. You can also consider redeeming AA or UA miles for a one-way award, if their participating partner carriers fly to XMN.

When are you planning to fly? Searching for (LAX,SFO,SEA,PHX)-(PEK,CAN,HKG,XMN) on matrix.itasoftware.com in July shows LAX-HKG oneways indeed being cheapest (at least if your dates are flexible), by such a large margin that it might make sense to book that and then book the connecting legs at either end separately. But if you're not travelling until autumn there might be other options that make sense.

Actually I am looking to fly to from PHX to XMN in July. I've played a bit with pricing trying to price LAX-XMN with PHX-LAX separately as well as PHX-HKG and then a separate HKG-XMN. I have no problem with staying a couple days in NRT, MFM, HKG, NRT, TPE or the likes. I figured it I could either find a good price or if it must be high price, try to add flights to accumulate additional miles. In other words, since I figure it isn't a location that will offer any deals, perhaps avoiding direct is the way to go.

Thanks for the bit on July, since that's when I plan on going.
