Emirates Skywards - Upgrade Waitlist Discontinued
I was just on the phone with Skywards trying to clear my upgrade for the flight over to Dubai for the Do next month.
While I managed to get through to the ever elusive Gold Desk very easily, they didn't have those two seats they apparently reserve for Golds.
The agent told me that they have discontinued the upgrade waitlist for Gold members recently (within the last week), so while no one else will be added to the list and I will have priority as a Gold, I can no longer do so in the future.
That's it, I'm only flying F from now on. :o

Are you sure that this new arrangement doesn't just apply to you? Maybe they've realised what a PITA you are...;)

The change to the waitlist has only been made within the last week - when I made the booking last week they were still able to waitlist me.
As for the upgrade clearing - it is still 2 weeks out. I'd expect it to clear only in the last few days, knowing how EK manage inventory.

Presumably this will be described as another "Programme Enhancement" for Gold Members. I cannot wait for the next one - perhaps we should give them a list of potential enhancements when we see them in a couple of weeks time. Here are a few ideas:
1. No Lounge access for Golds even when in Business or First Class (to help reduce overcrowding for other members).
2. Guaranteed Downgrades for Golds except those in Economy even when oversold in Economy.
3. Reduced baggage allowance for Golds in all classes of travel.
Haha, they said something about seeing how to better deliver the service - and I can see one reason for that - they couldn't actually tell me where I am on the waitlist.
