Emirates Skywards - Query on holding a ticket

Hello.. Its my first day here :confused:So not sure if my query is in the right place, still..:)

I have a situation that I need to reschedule a ticket ( its a restrictive ticket with no refunds/cancellation, date changes with 250EUR ), but I'm yet not sure with the new dates so I thought that there in an option just to ''Hold'' the ticket for sometime or leave the ticket open by informing the airline prior so that I wont be taken as No show passenger.With other airlines I did in the past for a holding period of around 3 months before I purchase the new ticket, but with Emirates its doesnt seem to be working. I was asked to confirm & purchase the new dates before my original date of flight. Am I rightly informed ? Visiting an emirates office will help ? The situation is my flight is on the next week from AMS to MAA, but I need to reschedule it to a Jan 2013, the price as of now is too high usually Jan is a sale period, so I do not want to purchase it now, but still keep my original tickets open..

I've done this before where I canceled the reservation but not the ticket, and rebooked the flight at a later date. However, it is unlikely that this is allowed on a restrictive ticket - the one in question was a fully flexible F ticket.
