Welcome to all status-matched BMI refugees, from a A3 member who qualified as A3 gold from flown miles last year. It's a really good programme with a lot of plus points.

Now, do you think we should start a campaign to get A3 to launch a partnership with MBNA - so that a miles-earning credit card can be issued in the UK and countries other than Greece - and/or points transfer from Amex Platinum and/or SPG?

I'd also like to see A3 introducing miles-plus-cash bookings, refdundable/changeable award bookings, and some of the other USPs of BMI Diamond Club - and of course hiring Keeley! - but a UK miles-earning credit card or Amex/SPG points transfer option would be my first wish for Miles&Bonus.

In the meantime though, sit back, relax, enjoy the programme, try and fly on A3 metal sometime (I'm hoping to later this year), and remember to book your hotel stays through the A3 website for maximum points!

Yes, it was only outshined by DC, obviously... I wonder if the matching campaign will have a significant impact on the number of heavy flyers (I suspect most A3 M&B account holders are in Greece.

We should campaign for the DCization of M&B ;)

I'll probably do the same thing as I did with BMI : fly once on their metal to discover the product. There are A3 destinations I've never been to!

Hmm. I am already blue with A3. Seems worth a shot trying to get BMI Gold matched.

I have to admit: BD people are not getting such a bad deal, getting status on both OW and *A!

I was already Aegean Blue (*S), but Aegean have just agreed to my request to match my BMI Gold. I wonder how long the status will last for? I'll find out when the card turns up in 2 months :)

Hope you get sorted they seem to be one of the better carriers to match BDs quickly. Cards take 6-8 weeks though but worth the wait . Their Gold cards and tags are much better than the BMI ones IMHO . ^

Made A3 Blue fairly swiftly earlier this year but the temptation to ask for *G was too much, so i've given in. An exp of 12/2015 is a fantastic deal and will also save money when it comes to planning ridiculous mileage runs! (Though I will miss them!)

Nice to see so many familiar faces here.

Haha me too . BMI took me to some places I never would have gone to on their metal and their partners. Still allows me to concentrate on more exotic carriers I didnt do because I needed to keep the Star MRs up .

Even if I matched to A3, I don't expect to fly *A soon except where there is no other choice. I'll certainly make use of my BA Gold to sample the products of a few new airlines, too...

Well the last time I spoke to a manager at A3 ( end of May) they said there were no updates as if that would change. Obviously if BA decide to change the policy about who uses the lounge then A3 will have to look for something else but I guess the status quo will remain until such time. Enjoy it while it lasts I say :)

*Gold benefits. But maybe the use of the lounge in Heathrow is bilateral. Was it available before A3 joined *A ?

colmc
Jun 14, 12, 10:33 am
Indeed, there is nothing stopping them from having a separate deal with bmi/BA. If BA is getting paid for it (and the lounge will definitely be somewhat under used now with less *G's entering), they probably won't mind too much.

They have stopped . A few Y class with Star Gold cards were turned away. I got in purely due to the fact I was J class. So A3 continues to have a lounge agreement for its J class passengers outside Star Alliance similar to the one CY had for theirs.

There's a new serve that Amex UK provide for A3 customers.

We're off to Santorini in the autumn so I booked a couple of tickets from ATH for the goddesserica and myself.

Having poked the purchase button, I opened my mail programme to find, instead of a confirmation, a notice of suspected fraud from Amex.

When I called them, it was indeed the A3 transaction they were querying, saying something about being extra careful with any Greek transactions at the moment.

Given that I've used the card for things as diverse as Moscow taxis and Manila department stores this year without a flicker, it does suggest they're being very cautious.

Weird because I use an Irish and UK credit card all the time in Greece and from here purchasing tickets on A3 and OA and never had this . Maybe Amex being over cautious especially if its not your normal habbit.

Hello...
as it is my first post: Hello to everyone!

I´m another one with a successfull status match from Diamond Club to Miles&Bonus. The performance of A3 is just amazing. I requested the status match last night and it is already done. Great job!

Thanks to bmi I´m now a gold member with OW and *A.

They can check the (former) Star status, when they have your number, on Starnet, I suppose. I don't expect there's much you can do, apart from sending scans of your card and PDFs of your bmi account and trying again.

Be sure to get this straightened out before your current *Gold card expires. Airlines usually won't do a status match based on an expired elite card.

Think you have same issue as me ( posted in DC forum )

Card valid, but status is reduced about 60 days before the card.

I am hoping the fact the card is valid will be enough, but they arent having it so far. :D

Thats a tricky one some airlines are more specific than others during matches in my experience. Good luck with it anyway hope it works out .

A big hello from a former BD *G here, too. I just realized that I could have also status matched from BD to A3 Gold, instead I earned my Gold with last weeks flight on LH. Wasn't bad though.

I Matched a few weeks ago, did not have the card but sent them a screenshot with my account details and status and a copy of my BA gold card. It took them about 1.5 hours to match me.

Just flew my first TG first SIN-BKK-FRA and got almost 20k miles one way. That was more than with DC.
