My fiance and I will spend the last 2 nights of our honeymoon 8/17-19 in HK en route back to San Diego. We have already spent a lot of $$$ on hotels in Bali and we are looking for something sub $200 with a view. Is this possible? We'll have burned most of our miles, so I think cash is the only option. Where would you stay?

View of what?
Harbor? Probably tough unless you stay at the IBIS in North Point which has views...there maybe be some in TST like the Harbour Grand Kowloon.
If you're looking for city or mountain views should be easier.

Priceline might get you good location for $200 but you'll not get a guaranteed harbor view...

For a Friday and Saturday night, you will be struggling to get something decent on the Island for $200, let alone something with a view. Trawl through wotif.com to see if you can get something in your price range that you like.

Harbour Grand in Fortress Hill has harborview room for the price on Expedia. It's cheaper now, most likely because of the pretty dramatic 3-alarm fire last month.

Thank you for the suggestions. I found a premier queen/twin with view at the Harbourview Hotel for $180/nt. What do you think? Is it worth upgrading to the Harbour Grand for $20-40 more depending on bed?
Also, it seems that a lot of the hotels hedge their room bets by saying "king/twin." How likely is it that we would get twin beds even if we asked for a king?
Thanks!

The Harbourview's basic rooms are not very big (so if you put a premium on space, definitely get the upgrade), and it's a bit run-down (it looked like it's stuck in the 80's-90's when I scored a room there last year for ~$100 USD- but at that price in Central, I was fine with someplace that wasn't big and was a bit of a dated, run down business hotel- and I didn't pay extra for a view since my room was just going to be for sleeping).
The location is pretty good (in Wan Chai, so pretty central, right next to the the Hong Kong Arts Centre (http://www.hkac.org.hk), and across from the Hyatt), but don't have great expectations for the room.
You might do better finding a better hotel on Kowloon side, depending. The trick will be finding a view. I'd look on wotif.com as suggested, and booking.com has some good deals too (that's where I got the Harbourview).

I always stay at the YMCA Salisbury. Perfectly acceptable and as long as you request a high floor a good view. I find the location convenient.

I think the Harbour Grand is a much better property than the Harbourview, but a little further from Central. Harbour grandis a 5* hotel and Harbourview is run by the YMCA, so the service will differ.

I would recommend the Metropark Causeway Bay. They have harbor view rooms - less than $200 and I would rate the hotel as a solid property with attractive rooms, free wifi, pool, etc. The service was not spectacular, but certainly acceptable. During my last stay, I booked a standard room and was upgraded to a 1-bedroom suite with harbor views (I would not chance it though if you absolutely would like a room with a view - just book a harbor-view to ensure).

The YMCA is in a fantastic location in Kowloon. If you can reserve a room with a view there, go for it.
Two blocks away is the Sheraton. It's not my favorite hotel, but some rooms have great views if you can book them at a good rate.

The Bishop Lei Hotel is (or used to be) operateed by the catholic church. It has smallish rooms, but great little suites with fantastic views up on Robinson Road. You can use the escalator to go up, and the walk down is great if you go through the park and zoo area, or you can walk down the escalator corridor. I walked by there a few months ago, and it still looks great.

Smallish is an understatement. To get anything decent sized you need to book a twin room or better.
Location is good and you can occasionally get a great deal. Check out the reviews online
