I thought I'd let everyone know that JAL is quietly having a sale on business class fares to Europe, Delhi, and Sydney ex-Korea (Seoul and Busan) for travel between 1 June and 30 September 2012; book by 27 June.

http://hanabitourair.web.fc2.com/jlbusinessbeyond/JLbusinessbeyond120523.pdf (Japanese only)

Fares (excluding fuel and taxes)
CDG/LHR/FRA 2,360,000 KRW (Can also use AF codeshare on CDG route)
DEL 1,620,000 KRW
SYD 2,050,000 KRW

The Europe fares book into X, while the DEL/SYD fares book into D.

1 stopover in Tokyo permitted each way. 1 month validity. Date changes allowed at no cost.

WOW those are really cheap!!! Thanks the dark side ambassador :p

FYI, YQ and taxes are excluded in these fares if I read correctly. I believe YQ is regulated in Korea and is lower than those in Japan in general

And HND-CDG is also eligible

One additional note: you may have to go through a Korean TA to book these, as I did not see them on a GDS.

Does anyone know an English-speaking TA that is willing to do this over the phone? Or maybe someone has found a Korean OTA that displays this fare...?

Why is it not possible to book on Jal.com? Also apparently this deal is not on Expedia?? this is frustrating, I can't read Japanese

JAL usually gives traditional travel agencies discounts that are not available online on JAL website. This is probably one of them.

I've called JAL's korea reservation centre, they told me to contact their travel agent. If any one is still interested, the number is (02)771-9941

I have purchased 4 tickets from HIS korea office.
HIS is one of the biggest travel agency (budget oriented), and its branch is in Korea.
I am sure they speak English.

Good points for this ticket:

Change return date without fee
Can stop over in Tokyo up to 14 days
Can use code share AF flight, so chance to ride B380 aircraft
Upgradable from C to F

And price, almost same as Y fare from Tokyo to Europe, especially with surcharges.

Thanks OP for this information.

I guess summer is traditionally low-season for carriers like JL that relies on corp pax...

However I see they're adding peak season surcharges on short-hauls from China and Taiwan, so probs they get more tourists on those routes?

Demand to Europe really is that weak (from Korea, anyway -- fares from Japan are higher), but I was surprised by DEL and SYD, especially since they're increasing the DEL route to daily later this year. Perhaps they need to compete with OZ or KE on those routes?

How did you find this fare? It's an awesome fare. I hope they continue to extend it.

Those are just fares offered to the travel agents. A lot of times TA will have better deals than the JAL website.
