Will be flying LAX-ICN on a full C fare, and wondering if it's worth dropping either 30,000 UA miles or 30,000 AmEx membership rewards points (via AC) to upgrade from C to F on this route - knowing it's a 747.

It's a daytime flight so I don't plan to sleep, just wondering about space / privacy / etc.

I did this segment in early May.

The wine list was absolutely spectacular. Choice of two vintage champagnes, French grand cru's, ice wine for dessert.

I found the space and seat to be more than satisfactory as well.

The only minus was the ground service at LAX. There wasn't any.

That alone sounds worth the 30,000 miles to me!

Isnt OZ giving free upgrades on full fare C to F on LAX-ICN right now anyway?

Possible, but it's not a LAX-ICN fare....it's an east coast to southeast asia through C fare.

Looks like it's not limited to just USA-ICN. It says U.S. TPAC flights and beyond. I'd definitely call and see if they'll do it.

Going to keep trying...tonight's rep told me "of course - just have your travel agent rebook you from C to F class and you will be set at the same fare." I think not....

Is the fare code CW or CX? Those are the C fare classes that book into F I believe.

Plain old C unfortunately - not CW or CX. It's a Canada-originating fare, so assume it might not be valid.
