I recently flew QR from DOH to IAH in business. They served a German Reisling Wine that was fantastic. I am trying to find out the brand. It is Dr Something. Does anyone know the name ?. I am hoping I can get it in the US.

I checked out my huge menu collection and found this:

Dr. Loosen
2007
Erdener Treppchen
Riesling Spätlese
Mosel
(A.P.Nr. 2 576 162 35 08)

Thanks guys. It is not Dr Loosen. It was a long name. I think it is the other one.

The Riesling they served on my recent trip was the Fritz Haag Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr Spätlese 2008. Is that it?

No. It started with Dr. and it was a long name.

Must be the Bernkasteler. They haven't served Dr. Loosen in a couple years, although Ernst Loosen was in Qatar last year to try to get his wines back on QR.

My recent trip was short-haul first; the selection must be different. I'm flying to LHR next week, though, so I'll take a closer look.

Flew LHR-DOH-BKK last week, the Riesling was definately Dr Loosen's.

Flew LHR-DOH-BKK last week, the Riesling was definately Dr Loosen's.

Quick update; Flew BKK-DOH yesterday & the Riesling had changed (in fact the wine list itself had literally changed into a glossy publication). I stupidly forgot to take note of the name but it definately didn't begin with "Dr". They were also serving a superb Meursault white Burgundy, very good indeed. That combined with the 1974 Kolheita Port... ^^^ (not in the same glass before someone makes the joke).

Flying DOH-LHR the wine list had reverted back to the familiar with a Dr Loosen Riesling.

They have also changed the amenities kit. The new one contained only 3 items, 'refreshing water spray pour Homme', lip balm & hand cream by Attimo. The comb & ear plugs are now within the eye mask/socks package. A backwards step perhaps, in presentation at least.

I bought Dr Loosen riesling and now I am certain this was not the wine they served on my flight. May be they serve first class wine on these very long flights to USA in business.
