bmi diamond club - Ticketing of Star alliance redemption

Hello,

I booked a redemption trip on Star Alliance carriers yesterday to to beat the 31 of May deadline. It hasn't been ticketed yet but I was wondering whether ticketing also had to be done before BMI cuts all ties with Star Alliance on the 31st?

Am I being overly worried about this? Not sure anyone can answer this apart from BMI themselves but wondered if anyone had any insight.

Best wishes,

There is a huge queue of tickets to be issued and I'm sure all will be done by tomorrow. There has been a backlog. My ticket needed a reissue and after 4 days got done today.

Mine took a whopping five weeks to issue. Booked 18 April, ticketed today! :-)

I really wonder how many tickets will be forgotten behind. The backlog seems quite big.

I doubt that they will be forgotten, but I'm not sure they will be able to process everything in time for the cut off today.

I reckon some overhead for issuing final tickets has been planned. I think as long as it is booked until EOD today, we should be fine.

I have made two award bookings lately and the second(booked later) booking is already issued, but not the first(booked earlier).

I booked 2 days ago, and still not ticketed.
Tried to call and was not allowed in call queue because of extreme call volumes.
Miles taken from account, in 2 random entries (rather than one 18750 reduction, one for 13342 and another one for 5408).

Made a booking yesterday, miles and cash already taken, but I don't see a ticket number yet. Is this normal?

Yes. It is just being queued for ticketing. Sometimes the miles and cash are taken before this, sometimes after. Main thing is that it is being processed, so it should be well on the way.

First time for me, and I've done quite a few in the past years.
Anyway, hoping eTicket should follow soon.

I've been told by the ICC that DC have until 2 June 2012 to ticket all remaining redemptions. I'm not sure how far from the truth this is but my booking was ticketed in a 48hr timeframe(admittedly I did call twice a day to follow up)

Thanks, RAPC!
I was going to call to try to speed things up, but it seems it will be useless with today's amount of calls.

I was on first thing this morning, got my flight booked but had to rng back with passport details (took so long I needed to run off to something, but they said 48 hours to provide them), was very frustrated at the wait times - plus costing me a fortune as in Thailand at the moment... Went into United site to see if adding directly would help and got a message saying it needed to be ticketed by midnight LA time on 31st... Have since got through and had them added, so fingers crossed, at least it's a route with BA availability if it gets messed up!

(and apologies if common knowledge, but they explicitly said that cancellations wold be free given no changes could be made)

Take this without whatever grain of salt you want. Here is what I was told:

ICC - Today is last day to create a booking, ticketing will go through in the next 48 hours, as no way they can ticket everything today.

UK CC - Today is last day for bookings and ticketing.

I've learned never to trust corporate announcements 100%. Even if they did not want to misinform, they might not have thought about something.
That said, I too have an unticketed reservation.

I made a booking yesterday, received the email etc. This morning the miles were deducted from my bmi account and it has just now ticketed. The flight is a USAirways flight if that makes any difference.

One AC booked yesterday afternoon had not ticketed by yesterday evening, but by this evening it had. One more booked today has not ticketed yet. I'm not worried though. All the CMT details are correct so I'm sure it will go through OK. I don't see any reason to worry.

EDIT: Second one ticketed 24 hours later.

UK CC is going by the book. They wouldn't know better cos they still have to queue the bookings over to a ticketing department - which is the ICC.

It takes them in 2 entries as it distinguishes between destination miles and bonus destination miles and takes them in 2 batches.

For folks who think they may have missed out...well you may still have a chance. Had a reservation ticketed this morning because I couldn't connect to an agent yesterday. So if you have something in hold, you may still have a chance to getting it issued today. ^

Sad to see bmi out of *A. :(

Why are so many agents saying the ticketing deadline on these bookings is July 2nd but that these bookings will be ticketed in the next day or two?

I can't expect the Star Alliance carriers are all going to allow unticketed bookings to be held that long.

makes sense, maybe they also distinguish(ed) purchased miles.
i had 1400 miles on my account, purchased 18k for a 18,750 redemption and it came broken as a 18,000+750 deal

My bookings from the 30th ticketed this morning even if it did require a call to PTS. I was getting a bit anxious as the outbound is tomorrow.

Booked as two one ways but I only received an email for one. Was able to confirm both were ticketed through the Amadeus e-ticket locator. ^

Mine ticketed sometime between 3 and 8 PM GMT. Booked on the 24th, called 30th and asked for a change, chap said since it was a zones 4-1 to zones 4-2 deal, better cancel, expedite the refund and book again. Was getting impatient but the professional tone of the guys at Sheffield somehow made me cool down.
Now I have a nice GRU-LIS-MUC-LJU-BEG ticket, despite last two legs being on Y.

If I were you I would continue to phone until it is ticketed. After a while, if a reservation is not ticketed it will either automatically cancel or be cancelled by the operating airline.

I've just found out the return half of one of my bookings is still not ticketed. Plus on the other booking I checked, the agent seems to have taken an unacceptable connection time - and it got ticketed. Having blown £120 on mobile phone costs whilst travelling, trying to reach them and keeping being chucked out of the queue as soon as I got through - on the last day after unexpectedly being out of reach of phone and internet for two weeks, I really feel I can't face trying to get through to them anymore. But I suppose I shall have to in order to get this fixed.

There is something called "Skype" and phone cards that would not have cost even 1/3 of that.

I agree, now with Skype available for every phone and cheap local SIM cards that give you fast Internet access real cheap (when you don't have access to wifi), using your mobile plan to call while you're abroad is fastly becoming obsolete... BUT I did blow $15 on Skype in two calls.

Got a UA reservation ticketed today, two hours before it would have expired. Close call, and it only happened after I phoned DC. They said it took that long because it was a booking for a third person and they needed to verify payment first. Why verifying a payment would take five days is beyond me.

Has anyone who did those last minute bookings via Sheffield received the confirmation email? I'm trying to resend it through bmi's website to have a look at the tax breakdown (think I've paid too much), but I keep getting a silly "Website unavailable" thing. Is there any other place where I can have such info displayed? THanks!

There is something called "Skype" and phone cards that would not have cost even 1/3 of that. Was stuck in Munich Senator Lounge after being unexpectedly out of internet & phone contact for the previous two weeks. Since the WiFi in LH lounges is provided by T-Mobile, I have a nasty feeling Skype was blocked where I was anyway due T-Mobile restrictions. But I'm very grateful for your suggestion! I'm definitely going to check this out the next time I'm travelling.

Do they do that? I have never faced that before and would be really pissed of if they do. Blocking adult sites is another thing but blocking Skype so you have to use a phone line is bad business.

T-Mobile SIMs in UK block use of Skype and so far as I know TMobile (at least in UK but TMobile is owned by Germany) is still set up so you can't use your phone as a modem with your pc. So reasonable for me to worry about whether WiFi hosted by TMobile will let me use Skype even in Germany. I'll certainly check it out next time I am there although will be a while now before I get back there. Meanwhile following everyone's advice here I signed up for Skype today!
