bmi diamond club - BD refuses to credit Wyndham group stay - "not our partners"

I stayed at a Howard Johnson hotel and wanted to retro credit the stay to DC. Sent the papers by mail, after a while I got an email saying
"Dear Mr Wilco
Thank you for your recent claim for destinations miles.
Unfortunately, some of the evidence you supplied is from Howard Johnson Grand Hotel Plaza, who are not one of our partners and I am unable to credit your account with miles on this occasion.

Now, going to the BD website it says
Partner Hotels
The Wyndham Hotel Group
[snip]
You can earn 500 destinations miles per stay when staying in a participating Days Inn®, Baymont Inn and Suites®, Super 8®, Howard Johnson®, Travelodge® (US only), Microtel Inns & Suites® or Knights Inn® hotels.
There is no reply-to on the email. So what are my options? On principle, I wouldn't want to let these miles go.
Don't you claim missing Wyndham points via your Wyndham Rewards account, which then get converted to bmi miles (if you've selected bmi as the airline partner to credit stays to, that is).

Maybe, but there is no reference to this anywhere on the BD website. For retro claims, there is a UK phone number to call, but I'm not going to call international for 500 points, therefore I used the normal channel (mail in).
Also the claim was declined not because of incorrect retro claim channel, but because HoJo is "not our partner" while it clearly is.
Radisson is supposed to go the way you described (as per Radisson rules, but not per DC rules), but all my retro claims for Radisson went the regular way and were approved.

What he said.
HoJo is not a bmi partner, Wyndham Rewards is, so you need to get the miles credited to your WR account first and wait for them to transfer over (just like Conrad and HHonors for example); if they don't transfer, then you can talk to bmi...

Hello,
If you send a private note to myself & Wyndham Rewards 2, including your Wyndham Rewards member number and hotel stay information, we can take a look at your account for you & hopefully help out.
Thank you!

Are Wyndham even still aligned with BMI - I can't see any reference to them under the hotel partners section and have an upcoming stay

@ WyndhamRewards & GoldCircle
Thank you for the help offered. As I stay at Wyndham properties only very, very occasionally, I'm not a member of Wyndham Rewards - I have too many memberships already anyway :)
I was happy to spot the opportunity to credit HoJo to DC, but if it requests to enroll in yet another programme, I think I'll just let it go, even though it's a very unFT'er behaviour. :)
Cheers!

I joined Wyndham Rewards late last year for their double miles promo for new members.
I stayed at Wyndham for 3 nights, so should have gotten 6000 BMI miles.
12 follow up phone calls, endless promising of "We'll look into this" and 5 months later, I've now given up.
The Wyndham reps keep telling me that they haven't heard from BMI and vice versa.
It's all a bit disappointing and doesn't leave the greatest impression.

Just an FYI.....
Wyndham Rewards will cease to be a DC partner on 30/06/12.
My last Wyndham property stay credited in about a week.
