Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Expertflyer told me I got op-up

I was at the lounge yesterday waiting for CX904 when I tried to check expert flyer and tried to search for my flight. I saw that the seat I got on my BP was vacant and there were 2 pax in F. When I checked managed my bookings I saw that I was one of the lucky pax moved to F for the early morning flight to HK.

I use this feature on EF a lot. I always set up a seat alert on my seat after T-55 and when I get the alert I know I've been upgraded :)

Yup, I've found out that I've been opped up by checking EF as well. Same thing - my current seat suddenly showed as available. I tried to act surprised when the agent told me. ;)

Quite helpful to me recently as was traveling with Son (on a different PNR).
Went to the lounge agent and asked if my seat has been changed. Then asked kindly to change my Son's seat too :D

I'm just curious....we more or less know that status helps secure op-ups but do OW status trump MPC?
