Germany - Berlin Tegel, longer lines this summer?

Hi!

I have a return flight from copenhagen to antalya this summer with air berlin with a connecting flight in Berlin.

Most of us already know that unfortunately Brandenburg airport could not make it in time, which cause Tegel to be far more overcrowded than normal. I have tickets which allow me 1h to change plane at Tegel which is just fine under normal circumstances but do you think that the planned expansion for AB and LH this summer will cause longer waiting time? I have to pass an extra check when coming from turkey since it's outside EU which is the part I'm worried about.

On the outbound direction I have 6 hours in berlin and plan to go to the city for a good lunch, however should I expect much longer time when I come back to Tegel, I know 1h used to be more than enough to get in but this extreme situation keeps me worried.

Any recommendations are truly appreciated, thanks a lot in advande!

I don't know if anyone can really answer that until the peak of summer.

I was surprised however to find LH offered me a routing through TXL, which never occurred in past. Still, with the staff and checkpoints at TXL I wouldn't be overly concerned.

Thankyou for your thoughts, seems like LH has moved a lot of flights from Brandenburg to TXL since the anouncement of delay came to late it surely was too hard to cancel flights. I read that LH will start to use BER as major hub for national flights but keep international routes through, frankfurt münchen etc. so hopefully it will be fine

even if its messy an hour will be fine. no one will ever be able to answer this with any certainty, a delay or weather foul up or anything can radically change even the smartest estimates.

but here's your cure-all...even in LHR at the worst of times changing terminals you can make it in an hour...even with speed bumps.

TXL will never be LHR...too darn small. You'll make it.
