Nordic Countries - Travel options Flam to Stavanger

I think I started my plan a bit backwards.
Was planning to do Oslo, flam, Stavanger, then Bergen. Fly back to Oslo then back to the States.
Searching things out, I haven't seen a good option on how to get from the Flam area to Stavanger. Can someone give me an idea for a boat/rail route to get from the area around Flam to Stavanger?
Thanks in advance

I hardly think you can travel from Flåm to Stavanger without traveling via either Bergen or Oslo. I recommend you do Oslo-Flåm-Bergen-Stavanger-Oslo instead. Take the train from Flåm to Bergen, then Flaggruten (fast boat) from Bergen to Stavanger, (alternatively you can take a plane if you're in a hurry, or a bus if you're on a budget. I believe boat is the most scenic mode of transport on that stretch though). You can grab a plane back to Oslo just as easily from Stavanger as from Bergen.
I agree with mandira. All logical routes using public transportation Flåm-Stavanger are via Bergen. Bergen and Stavanger are both connected by rail and plane to Oslo, and by boat/bus/plane to each other. Both also have (rather parallell) international air connections (and at least hourly to Oslo)

There are also busses and a daily expressboat between Flåm and Bergen that you could use instead of the train.
The bus or train between Flåm and Bergen and the bus between Bergen en Stavanger run more often than the expressboats so they might give you a better connection.

I guess we will rearrange our plans and go to Stavanger from Bergen. This time I'm sticking with seeing more of less. One too many trips spent running from place to place, and from all I have read, the fjord area is the most scenic part of the country. As much as I would love to see the aurora, I don't really want to brave the Norwegian winter to do so!
Thanks again for the input
