Star Alliance - combine miles for award ticket

my miles are scattered all over *alliance. can i combine us and or ua and or lh miles to "pay" for a business class award tatl?

if i just want to pay with miles from LH on a UA flight(or vice versa) where do i go to do that?

No. You can't combine miles from different FFPs for award travel.
If you want to use UA miles, either book online or call.
Likewise with LH.

While you cannot mix them regularly (i.e. 20K UA + 20K M&M = 40K total) you can do things like one-way trips on two different carriers in some cases which works out near the same. Still, it depends on the programs and their rules.

Booking is always done via the program where the points are.

i have a few more miles than that, and have been flying and flying on award flights, but never on an alliance award.

but if i understand, i pick the ua flight i like, call lh and ask them to book it for me with lh miles. do i pay the ua rates and fees, or lh fees for tatl(around $5-600). if i see a saver flight on ua, is it available on lh, or is the availability of ua flights different from the ua flights available to other * alliance ?

If you use LH miles, you pay LH fees.

I have 12k unused TUrkish miles, much less than award level.If I understand this thread, I can't combine or transfer them to United. correct?
is there any use for the 12k? (made a mistake when selected Turkish miles...liv and learn).
