Virgin Australia Velocity - AWRDS - do Platinums get any breaks if one is cancelled?

Most flyer plans have dispensations for fees when top level Elites cancel awards.
UA 1Ks for instance incur no fees to book or cancel any award.
The Virgin website is silent on this aspect re Platinum perks on cancelling .. does anyone have any input?

It is not something that i've heard of. I suspect it would be at their discretion at best.

I believe it depends on the fare rules.
However, I think that there is no refund of anything if an economy award is cancelled.

Huh?
No point refund even?

That's one of the weird things about booking a long haul reward through velocity. I was looking to book a SYD-AUH in business until I noticed the rules: changes incur a $200 fee (typical of Business Deal fares) and NO refund. I also noticed that the EY flights have little taxes (~90AUD) associated with them whereas the VA flights have almost triple the charge.
I am not too excited about their points table either but that's a different story.

16.17 Once an Air Reward redemption booking is made and tickets are issued, the ticket is non-refundable. Changes may be made if seats are available subject to payment of any difference in fare and associated change fees. The change fees applicable will be the fees published on the Virgin Australia Website on the date you request the change. Points will be forfeited for any ticket which is unused (in whole or in part).

+1
The number of point to fly long haul is outrageous, compared with other FF programs.
Def no refunds or points back on a Y booking I made that I wanted to cancel. (Athens) so I've just left it now as is.
