U.K. and Ireland - Denied entry to UK/ Can I transit through UK?

Hello

I was denied entry last year in Gatwick (Canadian passport) because the woman believed that I will overstay my trip as I was visiting my partner in UK.

Anyway, we're both travelling to Istanbul for the summer, and I wish to connect a flight from UK, so we can both travel together to Istanbul.

Would that be a problem, I simply wish to connect to a Turkish flight in London?

Anyone has experience in this?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated

Nada

What does that mean?

I would check with the nearest British consulate and not attempt this until you are assured by the Consulate that it will be OK. More than likely, having been denied entry to the UK, you will be subject to a lot of scrutiny before you board your first flight, so having everything is in order.

If you can't get the assurance, choose another route.

If by "transit" you mean "I've booked one ticket to fly me from home to Istanbul and it just happens I have to change planes at Heathrow" then you shouldn't have a problem with UK immigration as you won't encounter them as a you do an airside transfer via the Flight Connections centre.

If you mean "I've booked two flights - one to London, one from London so I can sit next to my partner" then you've got problems if you have checked luggage as you'd have to go through immigration to collect and recheck it.

In either case the airline will take a VERY hard look at your passport when you initially check-in and may decide to deny you boarding.

Have you thought of flying a different route?

When you say "denied entry", can you elaborate a bit more?

What paperwork were you issued? Was your passport marked with a cancelled stamp?

In theory, you should have no problems transiting (or even entering) the UK provided there were no statutory reasons for your inadmissability and the purpose of your trip this time (transit) is different from that the previous time (visit).
