So, here is my story:

I stayed at another hotel chain and only went to eat at a Crowne Plaza hotel. They had discounted prices for Priority Club members on some of the menu items but when it was time to pay the bill they refused those prices for me because "priority club card is blue, yours is some other card". The card I tried to use was my Gold Ambassador card which is the only one I have ever had. This was also the first time I have ever needed to show it at any hotel so I am a bit unsure myself.

Was I wrong or were they wrong? I mean, they thought my card is valid only at IC hotels and I thought it is a priority club card as well as a ambassador card?

Btw, a side question: Should one get points for these restaurants bills as well or only for nights/rooms?

What you encountered was an ill informed member of staff. The Gold coloured ambassador card indicates gold status in PC and on the back of the card is a PC logo plus ( on my card ) the words As a (Royal) Ambassador member, you will also enjoy all the benefits of a Priority Club Rewards (Platinum) Elite member

I assume that on your card the Royal is missing and Platinum is replaced with gold

Thanks. I wasn't totally wrong then:)

Not that big a deal, thou. I think I lost something like 10 € because I was refused those special prices. But did I lose some points as well? Do you get points for restaurant bills at Crowne Plazas?

It's a great SPG perk with nothing similar in Priority Club land.

To be exact, you'll get the points if you're staying at the hotel and charge it to your room bill. No points if you're not staying at the hotel or pay the restaurant bill at the time.
