I realize that if so, one likely is not reading these boards, but does anyone have experience with National's (and presumably Enterprise Holding Company's) Do Not Rent List?
I have an open rental with National on the Florida Drive-Out promotion (Chrysler 300, technically not available on FDO, but I had a one-way rental from Charlotte to Daytona on a corporate contracted premium, and the agent happily agreed to honour my new contract with the same vehicle). I was rear-ended in Atlanta a little over a week ago so took it to ATL where again, they happily swapped it out for another 300 (impressed and ^ to this as even though DAB upgraded my reservation from FCAR to PXAR, ATL was under no obligation to do the same). However, upon trying to exit the lot, I was told by the gate agent that I was on the DNR list and after calling, she said I would have to go talk to a manager to get it straightened out as there was nothing she could do and had no further information but that it was indeed very strange on an open rental.
The manager stated that DAB had placed me on the DNR list and he would have to contact them to get it straightened out. After waiting around for approximately two hours, the manager finally came back out with the updated contract and I was happily on my way. However, he had no details to offer as to why I was placed on the DNR list to begin with, and since then in trying to sign into my National account, it states my Emerald Club account has been closed.
Does anyone have any experience with this, particularly being put on DNR mid-rental? The car is due for return on Wednesday, so I have not yet contacted National regarding as the reason is unknown and they may demand the car be returned immediately (though this would be highly unlikely as the station manager at ATL was able to override it and also strange to note, the day before the incident at ATL, I had just extended the rental an additional two weeks) and therefore have not been able to seek corporate accountability for it, but did want to ask for any similar experience from the FT community.

I know that DNR placement will be threatened by Enterprise Holdings if you don't pay for damages. But this would be after you were sent an invoice, a second notice, and a final notice. Sometimes the first notice can take 3-6 months to arrive apparently.
This happened to me in YVR when I was accused of chipping the windshield on a Volvo C30. The found the damage after I'd left, and the time and location of the incident looked completely randomized on the report. They were charging me for a replacement windshield, down-time, and admin fees. I called in to dispute with both the local manager and the claims dept, and both dnied that there was even a remote possibility that the damage could've been there before (I absolutely hadn't done it). The best the claim dept. could do was drop the charges down to $60 for a chip-seal, as I had offered since they took several weeks between the date of rental and when they sent the car in for repairs so I shouldn't be responsible for the chip having spread while they waited on it. Claims agreed, yet I kept getting automated letters saying I woed the full $350+. When I got the final notice that threatened DNR placement, I phoned the claims rep and told him this was not what he had agreed to and please advise. Then somehow it all went away, I never paid the $60 even, the letters stopped, and I've been happily renting from National ever since without incident, less the embargo I imposed while the claim was in dispute (they lost more in revenue than the YVR staff had tried to extort from me in the first place).
So anyways, in your case the conclusion I draw is that it was likely an administrative error. I doubt that National would go and DNR anyone that has outstanding damages on a vehicle without at least being given a chance to settle it. But, once you're placed on it, I imagine it's a nightmare process to get your name removed (hence the 2 hour wait) as they want to make sure they don't let a legitimate DNR customer through the system again.

Thanks for the response. I do have open damage claims regarding a prior eighteen day rental where a woman crossed multiple lanes of traffic into me in West Palm, but have been in contact with their claims adjustor on multiple occasions and had notified her that some of the information she requested would have to wait until I returned back home, so I do not think this is it.
Agree that it is likely an administrative error, and thus the reason the station manager was able to override it, but I still find it concerning that they have not attempted to contact me (the person receiving my mail has also stated no letters have arrived), the station manager at ATL had no additional info despite apparently overriding the DNR, and that even after the station manager's override approval, National closed my Emerald Club Account. Again, it is all speculative as to why at the moment, and will try to find out definitively on Wednesday when I return the vehicle.
Edit to Add: Part of the delay was because the manager stated that he would need to finish the damage report on the car being exchanged before he could sign out a new car.

I had a lengthy conversation with a station manager about this issue recently. My concern was that I had rented a new Avalon with all of 15 miles, and drove it about 250 miles during the rental (mileage at return was 265). Somehow, the return agent entered that as 2650 miles (!) and I was concerned that I would somehow be placed on a DNR list because of putting excessive mileage on the National vehicle. The manager corrected the issue for administrative purposes, but candidly told me that it's relatively hard to get placed on the DNR list with National and that at least with regard to mileage, that would not be a way on to the list.
Of course, YMMV.

You mention having another open claim with National. Perhaps multiple accidents in a short timeframe trigger an automatic DNR during a history review?

Finally received a letter from Enterprise Holdings today. It seems that in the process of Chase sending me a new card, they declined a partial authorization from National leaving a $120 balance on the closed rental (less than 1/4 of the total charges). Easy enough to get cleared up, and the letter states once the balance is paid I will be reviewed for removal from the DNR, but I find this to be a very poor business practice for such a trivial amount especially considering that CLT could have handled this upon return (was not an Express return) :td:.

I just went in and calculated all of my rental mileage since April 1, 2012 and it came to 17,290 miles ! Of those, two were National rentals (one for eighteen days and one for twenty-one days) and each of those saw approximately 5,000 miles.

I got put on the DNR list once. I found out as I tried to leave a location with a rental. I ended up having to rent from Dollar (shudder). It was for unpaid tolls. I never received any letter or invoice from National. After talking to a very helpful manager (after several calls over 2 days with inept agents) it was cleared up and I was able to rent again. Apparently, it was a different driver on a different car at the same location at the same time with my exact name (crazy). As way of an apology, I was sent a nice letter and given 3 coupons for free days.
