We're flying out of LAX to PER in July - via ICN and then to BKK before reaching PER. LAX to ICN is in the First cabin on Asiana; INC to BKK is Businesss on Asiana; and final leg from BKK to PER is on Thai Airways Business/Royal Silk. Our stopover at BKK is 12:10 am (local time) - what are our options since the BKK lounge is already closed? Our flight out of BKK to PER does not leave until 7:50 am - we have approximately a 7.5 hour layover. We don't want to leave the airport and would like to find out what some of our options are.

I've booked a 4 hour reservation at Louis' Tavern in BKK on my own expense to rest and wait for our next flight - is this necessary? If not, can you tell me what my options are for that lenght of time in the middle of the night at BKK? I'm not sure since the BKK Thai Airways Lounge is closed and will not reopen until 6 am (?) not sure if Thai Airways would provide other alternatives or am I on my own? I called Thai Airways customer service in LA a month ago and was told incorrectly that the Thai Airways Royal Orchid lounge is opened 24/7 in BKK

Thanks for all of your help and input.

Is this an award ticket or revenue ticket? Can the OP call the ticketing carrier and ask if they provide hotel at BKK (STPC)?

If that fails:

In LAX you'll have access to the *A lounge in TBIT. There's no options to choose from. In ICN you'll most likely be shunted off to the C lounge. Unless things have changed there's no accommodation for F arrivals moving to C departures.

In Bangkok you'll have access to the lounge until 1AM but the lounges, other than Louis Tavern, are closed until 5AM.

If you have Priority Pass you'll gain access to the Louis Tavern lounges, but not the rooms (which are ridiculously overpriced IMHO). Other than that there really aren't any options in the wee hours of the morn. I agree it doesn't make any sense to leave the airport.

Thanks for all of your responses. Since my option at BKK is very limited in the middle of the night and has been confirmed by the various respondents, think I'll keep my 4 hour reservation at Louis' Tavern for the long layover; they charge by the hour and they are expensive - sounds almost illegal in some countries. ;)

These are reward tickets (combination of First/Business class) that I originally booked on Continental before the end of 2011. Our first vist is to Perth (LAX/ICN/BKK/PER - on OZ/OZ/TG); second visit is to Sydney (PER/AKL/SYD - all legs on NZ); and our return home (SYD/ICN/LAX) -all legs on OZ).

We have a 3-day side trip to Hobart once we get to Sydney - however; we paid for the tickets on JetStar. Our trip to Australia begins on July 8th and ends on July 21 using mostly reward fare on United/Continental.

Take care and thanks again!

Have a look at this thread. (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/asiana-club/1317776-no-fcl-access-arrive-f-connect-c.html) Seems the consensus is that you will get F lounge access if the connecting flight doesn't offer F on an OZ-to-OZ F-to-C connection.

Thanks for pointing that out.

You don't have a stopover in Bangkok but rather a transfer. I just did an unfortunate 6 hours transfer @ BKK in the middle of the night. I contemplated, whether I should have just taken a cab to Silom and go party for few hours, but decided against it.

The Thai lounge reopens at 5:15AM. I just spent 4 hours at one of the restaurants on the upper floor. Requested bunch of free wireless vouchers that I could do some surfing

FYI... Louis Tavern Lounge is available on complimentary basis to all Diners Club credit card holders. In theory it is only for 3 hours, but is is not enforced.

It's also a Priority Pass lounge slated for 2 hour visits. This has been enforced 50% of the time.

I don't believe either plastic access card gives any discount to the sleep rooms in the A concourse lounge.

Haven't been to OZ F lounge in ICN, but I have been to business class lounge of OZ and KE. KE lounge wins by a mile, they actually have some hot food while the OZ lounge barely has anything. The best item in OZ lounge is probably the cup noodles

The OZ C lounge does have a selection of hot food. The problem is that for the main terminal lounge, based on my last experience there, it is only served during meal times, and not replenished after it's gone. The concourse OZ lounge serves hot food throughout the day I believe. I don't know about the KE lounge, but wouldn't be surprised if they do the same thing as the OZ lounge, being typically OZ copies everything KE does. So if you were in the KE lounge during mealtime, and in the OZ lounge during an off-mealtime, then it's not really a valid comparison.

Years ago I was a regular at both the KE and OZ lounges. Visiting them at the same times of day, there really wasn't that much of a clear winner in my mind. The KE lounge might have had a bit more food, but not much. However, my experience is from several years ago, so don't know if it's changed since then.

In the OZ F lounge, the hot food selection is usually quite good, and is served throughout the day. In addition, they often have some special menu of the week (or month?) served at dinner, where there's a mobile station setup next to the food counter, and the chef prepares your food, cooked to order. Absolutely no comparison of the food between the OZ C and F lounges in my opinion. I've never been to the KE F lounge, so don't know how that might compare to the OZ F lounge.

In LAX - the Star Alliance Lounge at TBIT is not very exciting. Crowded the last time I was there.

In ICN, the Asiana First Lounge was great. I did get access late May arriving F, connecting C.

In BKK, the Novotel on the airport property offers rooms with a 24 room block, usually with complimentary breakfast. Take the shuttle from the arrivals deck or walk through the parkade (bumpy + warm).

I am hoping that I would get access to the FCL in ICN - I asked Asiana customer support today and they countacted the Asiana Lounge help desk; I was told that I will not be able to get in to their FCL even though my itinerary includes a segment in F (LAX to ICN) connecting in C (ICH to BKK) on Asiana as well in July. The agent said that I'm only eligible to use the Business Lounge in ICN because - so we'll see what they do when I arrive at ICN and present my previous boarding pass in F on the first leg and ask for access in the FCL in ICN.
