Thinking about booking a cruise to carribean. Saw on ur portal that they were offering 6 points per dollar. Tried calling today but was closed. Anyone have experience booking a cruise on ur with chase sapphire preferred? How's refund policy? How's price compared to cruise website or Travelocity? Any extra fees?

I booked two cruises through them, both as last minute cruises so refunds were out of the question. Prices were the same as the cruise line. Made the bookings over the phone. Agents seemed knowledgeable and provided good advice. Points posted a few weeks after the cruises (which were a few weeks after reservation anyway).

so there's no atria fees/service charge? also, did you call saying you wanted a particular room? i've already located a few rooms that i was interested in. trip won't be until december. i saw on travelocity that i can book now with $1000 down payment and pay the rest in october.

No fees/service charge whatsoever. I had priced the cruises on the cruise line (Carnival) site, and the Chase UR rates were exactly the same down to the penny, after taxes. I also prepaid gratuities, and Chase UR was able to include that, thus earning me 6x UR points on the gratuities too. Might as well earn those points if you're gonna have to pay the silly gratuities anyway.

One cruise I booked on a Guarantee rate (no specific room). Another had been sold out for a while, and one cabin opened at the last minute. There was ONE and only ONE cabin available in the entire ship, on the Carnival web site. I called Chase UR and got that cabin for the same rate as Carnival. So you can say that in that case I called asking for a particular room. :D

I cruise quite a bit. I check the "Malls" and will check two travel agents.

lately, the TAs deals are better I measure the $ saved with TA by valuing the miles at 2.5 cents a mile.

I looked up everything that I needed to on Cruise & Vacation Desk before calling the Chase travel agency. Booking was easy. I got my 2% URs via CSP card that very statement, and after the cruise, I got more than 4% for the Ultimate Rewards travel portal. Maybe some of the on-boat spending also inherited the 4% bonus?

Smooth process. Well worth it!

I booked csp for December cruise. Still haven't gotten the remaining 4 percent. Do I have to wait til actual cruise? It's about 10,000 extra points.

I booked a November cruise about 6 weeks ago. There is a line in the rewards transactions that says "Travel Reservation - Confirmation XXXYYY", and the detail shows the amount charged to the card. The amount is actually the full cruise amount, even though I (have now) "paid" $100 with an FCC voucher. I'm not sure if the agent gave me a break because I mentioned the FCC and paid the rest in full, or if it will normally apply to the entire amount.

It's been 6 weeks and no points, but I won't worry as long as that line is there. I thought they were supposed to post in 6-8 weeks, but I may be mis-remembering that. It's only 6k points for me, so a

I did compare to CruiseCompete, but as this was a cheap cruise the best offer was $50 OBC. I valued the extra 4x points at about $95, so went with this.

I wonder if the new Carnival kick back rule will impact this sort of thing?
