InterContinental Hotels: Priority Club & Inter-Continental Ambassador - Cheapest way to get 5000 reward points from zero?

Hi,

I have just signed up for priority club, after knowing about point break and the the 70USD for 10000 points stuff.

However, I need to get the initial 5000 reward points before I can buy the 10000 points with 70 USD. Is there anyway I can get this 5000 reward points in a cheaper way compared to purchasing points directly from priority club website?

Ebay? Other way to earn points? Thanks.

When you join Ambassador, you get a 5000 point voucher in the form of an evoucher to enter online. You may get the odd one sold on ebay although none there at present.

Alternatively, an Amex MR transfer can still be done until the end of June.

When you have enough posts and enough registered time on FT, you will have access to Coupon Connection where you can trade stuff like this with other members.

If you pay for a stay at a PC property you can get thousands of bonus points by signing up for all the offers here:

A couple of weeks ago I stayed four nights at a Candlewood and came away with over 12K points.

I tried on several links from the website you have provided. But, none of it works, wondering why...Thanks for the information though=)

As far as I know, transfers of points from American Express Membership Rewards or Chase Ultimate Rewards are the quickest ways. You should get points transferred almost instantly. The only drawback is that these transfers are not good ways to utilize points. Moreover, transfers from Amex MR will no longer be available from 1 July 2012.

If you have no such account, you have to buy points directly.

Coke points and Foursquare count for about 5,000 of my points YTD. Total cash outlay is $0 but time is a different story. This would also be limited to US residents I beleive.

Points via Foursquare are available worldwide, but it takes 100 days to build up 5000 points.

Thanks for the information, that's a great idea since I'm not rushing to start booking IHG hotels...I tried and I saw the points on my topguest account, but it doesn't appear on my priority club account...How long usually does it take to appear on my PC account? Thanks.

I just joined but did not get the 5000 point e voucher; but I did get the BOGO certificate for a second weekend night free.
Should I call them?

I register for everything that I can and I guess I registered on the Facebook page. It pays 1K points for every paid night (not per stay). I'm not sure I understand the question. It just worked.

Thanks a lot for the information, I emailed 'ironmonkey' and waiting for his/her reply now. However, does it work for non-US residents?

My code was actually printed on the welcome letter from IHG, it was not a separate piece of paper like the BOGO certificate.

Is the code not listed on your welcome letter?

Go to this page:

https://www.facebook.com/priorityclub/app_427414417284521?cm_mmc=socialmedia-_-facebook-_-pcr-_-MBII_earlyaccess

And sign in to your Facebook account (you need a Facebook account for this, and many other offers). Follow the prompts to register your PC account number for the offer. The original blog says this will be open to everyone (even those few without Facebook) on June 1, but there is no link yet.

How's it going? How many points have you earned so far?

Thanks a lot for your information...I have just earned a few hundreds points through Topguest, it seems that the watching video stuff doesn't work for me. I will have my vacation starting July(hopefully) and will plan to have a few IHG nights. Thanks a lot=)

If you can find a way to register for this promotion multiple times, let us know. It complained to me about already being registered.

For European customers sometimes it is normal. For US-ones it is at the very low end.

12K for $89/night. Work paid, so I thought it was great value. If anyone can beat 12K at a PC property at this rate and about five minutes of clicking (after already checking in) please tell us all how.

Incorrect. Regular points purchases (at a penny-plus per point) DO count towards status! But points purchases that are part of a points & cash reservation do NOT count towards status; these points are cheaper (though the price has been creeping up).

Also, there is an annual (?) offer from U.S. Travel Association/Daily Getaways/Amex to purchase points at a reduced price from the normal 1 cent-plus, and those also DO count towards status.
