Etihad Airways Etihad Guest - Quickest way to getting to EY Silver status

Hello fellow FTers

Need some advice from you all...I have just started flying on Etihad, and was wondering what is the fastest (and cheapest) way of getting up to the Silver status in the Etihad Guest programme? I have been looking online but can't seem to see the easiest way of doing it. I know on BA there are a few short routes you can get on which triggers many tier points and fast succession through the tiers, is there anything similar with Etihad?

Look forward to hearing lots of ideas that may be out there.

Thanks.

You have two options:
1)Sign up for an ABIC credit card which gets you silver or gold right away. However, I do not understand if it is for UAE residents only or also for people outside the UAE.
2) Fly Europe- Australia return in Y (gets approx 20000 miles) and then a shorter flight. Once you hit 25000 miles you are Silver. A flight BRU-MEL can be as cheap as 920 euro (I paid that last year). And you can fly Europe-Bangkok as well, one of the cheapest routes available.

Date or marry a Gold Elite member: they may nominate one Silver member ... @:-)

Thanks for the ideas. Are there any shorthaul routes within UAE I could do back to back in a weekend that will have same outcome?

Doing shorthaul will not cut it. You need to get 25000 miles or 30 segments. Flying 30 legs in a weekend seems quite ambitious. Why do you want Silver status so fast?

Have you seen the Status Match thread?

The ADCB credit cards offer Silver / Gold dependent on which card fee you wish to pay & that you meet the income requirements. This is aimed at UAE residents & is an excellent way of achieving your goals. Non-residents might be able to get a card BUT you would have to pay "deposit" equal to your credit limit in order to "guarantee" your credit line.

Main reason is wanting lounge access. Will get there eventually but curious to know if there is anything I can do to speed up the process. Sadly no member of other FFP that would tier match.

If you want lounge access in AUH, I would (for now) simply cough up 50 dollar to use the Al Dhabi lounge in T1. I did that just before becoming Silver and I do not regret it.

If you got some spare change, buy a 12-segment economy class multiflier ticket voucher book from Etihad. It provides you with immediate Silver status. And it costs only AED 3680.

I have been Silver with Etihad for a the past four years. They recently moved silver members from the Abu Dhabi T3 lounge to a lounge in T1 which is nowhere near as good.

Personally I wouldnt waste money on flights you dont actually need. There are paid lounges in most airports that will be just as good as what you will get with Etihad Silver.
