Hi guys

Have finally managed to book Award flights in From GLA to DEN though only the TA parts are in business. I had a connecting UA flight direct from PHL to DEN however this has been deleted. I called UA and spoke to Malissa who was so helpfull. Unfortunately she couldn't change me because it was award flights booked through BMI. I had also paid UA the $74 fee to upgrade to E+. The only issue was the new flights were changing through ORD so this meant there would be 2 flights not 1. She said they would look after me once the tickets had been changed.

BMI changed the flights no probs but when I called back to UA the agent told me it was nothing to do with them but I could apply for a refund if I wanted. I called back again and got through to Malissa again who was, once again, very helpful, she changed both flights for me back to E+ on both flights at no extra charge even though it should have been more expensive :).

Anyway my question after all the rambling is: I seem to remember reading that after 31 May there could be no changes to your schedule and that the only option would be to cancel the whole thing. Would this be true if one of the airlines changed their schedule like happened here? Or does this only apply if I change my mind? I could not get a flight from DEN back to PHL on award so had to pay for a Southwest Flight so if I had to cancel the whole booking this would be a waste of money for me?

Any ideas?

So is this true? Is it possible to cancel *A award bookings after 31 May and redeposit all the miles?

Yes. You will be able to cancel and get the miles back, but no changes.

Even if it is because one of the airlines makes a schedule change?

Even if it is because one of the airlines makes a schedule change? No. No voluntary changes after 31 May. Involuntary changes should be dealt with as usual.

Uh oh. Forgive my ignorance but does this mean that say I do change my mind later and want to cancel, I can't?

And what would be considered involuntary changes?

Do miles really get redeposited, assume with the usual penalties, or do they get axed permanently?

You can cancel, no problem, just not make changes (i.e destination, time of flight etc)

Involuntary changes would be when the airline makes a change (time of flight, cancels a route etc)

You'll get the miles etc refunded if you decide to cancel the booking (minus the admin fee)

May I check where this is officially stated?
